Artist Biography

DV8 is the prodigy son of funk and R&B singer, songwriter Bobby Harris of the Grammy Award winning Dazz Band. As a child, DV8 grew up hanging around the house with George Clinton, Philip Bailey, Jay King, Charlie Wilson and Roger Troutman - all friends of his father. When his father hit BillBoard with the Dazz Band's first number one hit record, Let it Whip, DV8 moved from the mean streets of the Cleveland projects to a Shaker Heights mansion living down the street from the OJay's, spending time with his neighbors, Gerald and Shawn Levert of the R & B hit group Levert. As a young teen, DV8 toured the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan as a back-up signer for the Dazz Band. At nineteen, DV8 charted with his song "Ten Toes Up" on the Dazz Band's Under the StreetLights CD. He received critical acclaim from Cleveland radio and BillBoard. This year he won first place in the 2005 AlphaMusicGroup Singer/Songwriter competition and he is currently the AlphaMusicGroup featured artist. DV8 deviates by drawing form his early R&B/Funk influences to create a rock-pop-R&B sound with strong, infectuous hooks. He is radio-ready and his voice has been described as velvet-smooth. His talent is undeniable.
