Links Help

Frequently asked quesions on how to use and place your Affiliate links.

Q.  Where is the best place for me to place my Affiliate links?

 A.  There are MANY places and options across the Net for you to drop your Affiliate links, but perhaps the best places might be determined on your Web site's theme. Nonetheless, here are a few samples:

On your Homepage:
It is always best to place the link(s) where they can be easily seen and clicked on by your visitors. This is normally on your homepage, but can include any high traffic area of your site with above the fold being typically the best location.

Across the Web:
The more links you spread in your Web travels, the better response, referral and revenue you can potentially create for yourself. If you visit forums, groups, class ads, Blogs, directories, ezines and other great sites and options to spread your links, by adding your Affiliate link you can earn better returns. Remember who you are reaching, your niche market for Artistopia are musicians – so wherever they frequent is a good bet.

Endorsements:
If its a product or service you believe in, say so!

Q.  Who is my niche market on Artistopia?

 A.  As Artistopia is a music site for undiscovered, unsigned, indie bands, music artists, singers, songwriters, musicians, music groups, and DJs of all genres and from all parts of the world, your site should be a product, service or information directly of interest and usefulness to them. For the statistics on who visits Artistopia, please see Advertising Statistics

Q.  In what ways can I boost my profits?

 A.  Within your Artistopia Affiliate Member Console we have provided some great Marketing Tips with specific targeted ideas for your revenue to jump! Tweak any of these and write compelling ads, build your reputation in forums as an expert in your field and be consistent!

Q.  Should I update my links periodically?

 A.  Every few weeks or certainly every other month, check back for new creatives and update your links to avoid stagnation – freshen up text links and images. So yes, fresh content is always a great thing in the Internet world.

Test which images work best for you and/or try the text link(s) to track which form of link works best for your particular visitors.

Q.  How do I add a link using BBCode?

 A.  Site owners and Webmasters that are familiar with using HTML and BBCode will not have a problem adapting their Affiliate Code to their various postings as long as they DO NOT change the tracking link itself. For example: http://www.artistopia.com?aff=affmem&val=20 is the code used in our test affiliate links.

It is not our mission to offer code support across the Net, but in order for you to make the most out of the AAP, please see a site such as BBCode guide for tips on how to apply your links.

Q.  What’s the worst mistake I can make?

 A.  There are several things that may make your Affiliate Program not work as well as you want it to and many of these things are entirely in your power to prevent from happening. Let’s take a look at some of them:
  • The chosen program has to fit a need and/or desire that the viewer must have or want to try. This means the product, service or information offered must be of interest and fulfill a need for your web traffic to be the most effective. Considering this, Artistopia is a site for indie and unsigned artists, so to generate the best revenue, your site will need to be of interest to the musicians, singers, songwriters and bands that need Artistopia’s services and resources.
  • Have a well-optimized and well-placed site so that Google, MSN, Yahoo and any other important search engines and directories can send you traffic as well.
  • You have to allow time for the program to work. Some webmasters give up far too soon on a program forgetting that it takes a viewer about 5-7 times to actually SEE the ad in front of their face, before it actually registers on their subconscious.
  • Know what you are doing and how you want to work it. Affiliate programs aren't to be approached with a willy-nilly attitude. An informed affiliate marketing partner understands what he or she wants to accomplish and has a clue on how to generate maximum funds. In all things, inform and educate yourself so that your time and efforts are productive.
  • Not only must your site be optimized for search engines, but it absolutely must hold good quality content for your viewer to stay long enough to click your affiliate link.
  • Sending bulk Spam email is always a big no-no and reputation wrecker.
  • Take advantage of all the Marketing Tips provided, update your links periodically, test what referrals generate the best income and repeat the process.
