Q. To set the tone for the readers, how would you describe your sound?
Music is something that can find a root within the heart and soul of an individual. I have always been drawn to simple music, improvised music, and music that tests theoretical boundaries. My sound is Rock and Jazz with an Experimental/Meditative edge.
Q. So you are about to release a new album, tell us everything about it starting with the name of the album.
The name of the album is ABC. When someone says that they can say their ABC's, it means that they can speak a language. ABC is an introduction into my very own musical language.
Q. Who else was involved in helping you bring this album to fruition?
All the instruments and vocals were recorded by me. That is not what created the album though. Since I started recording material I have had tremendous feedback from fans all over the place. MySpace.com became a sort of launching ground for my recordings. "Cool Hands" and "The 2nd Netwerk" in particular have gained thousands of plays from my MySpace page. The amount of positive feedback that I receive continues to push me to get more stuff out there. ABC is one such result of my strive to provide more music to the world.
Q. What would you say some of the challenges you encountered in doing this album were?
The biggest challenge that I encountered with this album was sifting through my material to select tracks for the album. I have many musical dimensions within me and I did not want to leave anything out. I needed to showcase the rock, the jazz, the improvisations, the grooves, and the meditations that have blossomed from my music. In the end I selected 8 tracks that travel all over the place, yet all sound like Jeremy Laursen.
Q. Can you give us some insight into where, what or who motivated you to do the album?
The positive feedback and support always pushes me to create more music. It is all for my soul and the ears of listeners.
Q. What would you say is the best single and why do you think it is?
I am torn. Every track was initially a recording meant to stand alone. "Cool Hands" was the tune that really launched my recordings. Everyone has always liked it whether they are prone to straight up rock, improvisation, or pop. "On The Inside" is my favorite lyrical track. "The 2nd Netwerk" wins the award for best instrumental.
Q. Are you planning to produce videos for any of the songs on this album?
Currently I am not interested in creating music videos for my songs. I would love to tape live performances for release, but I like to think that if one closes their eyes, then the visions that the songs evoke will play on the back of your eye lids. If I were to befriend someone in this realm of art I would probably become more interested in videos. Till then, close your eyes and turn up the volume!
Q. Are you planning to tour to promote this album? If so, when and where will you be performing?
No tour is yet scheduled, but I have recruited musicians to begin playing the material live.
Q. So how do you see this album propelling your career in the music industry?
I believe in ABC wholeheartedly for many reasons. First of all, ABC shows off a tremendous amount of diversity in my composition and performance. I can pen a simple, catchy tune. I can stretch out into more involved compositions. I can hang with some of the great improvisers. I can write with some of the great lyricists. I am sort of a perfectionist. Every track on ABC can stand alone as an impressive work. I worked really hard to perfect the single recordings before the idea of an album ever popped into my head. As a whole, ABC will take you through a sort of therapeutic journey. The strength of the tracks and the album as a whole are just as I envisioned. I never envision my music as anything less than professional. As the word spreads, ABC will come to be known as the album that attracted the attention of musicians, listeners, and the industry to follow my career.

I will keep my fans informed of all new locations as they come.
Q. One last question for you: What other great things or projects can we look forward to hearing about from you in the future?
I am actively working on new recordings as well as quite a few different books. Coming soon are books for guitar players, as well as books for all musicians and composers. Also, I am working with a group of guys to begin playing the music live.
