Michael Guy, solo jazz pianist & composer, digital keyboards, originally debuted in the summer of 1984 in small concerts in Massachusetts and New York City - following that he worked in New York City in music publishing but spent many years in seclusion composing while undergoing treatment for Kidney Dialysis. With a kidney transplant in 1992, he briefly returned to playing in Florida in the mid-90's but chose instead to concentrate after that on composing and studying orchestration. His downloadable music is available as mp3 files on his own JzCDz.com Storefront and he has excerpts from his classical compositions, including his ever-growing popular "Symphony on Native American Themes". It was composed and orchestrated in 1996-99 and digitally performed & recorded by the composer.
brbrA digital performance of this on CD will be released here in the near future. brHe is the sole performer and composer of the 2007 14 track, 71'16" CD: August Ocean Overture, a compilation of solo piano, layered keyboard and electric group compositions newly released on Amazon.com and CreateSpace.com this Spring 2008. Many of his latest piano solos were "live studio" recordings done in 2007 sessions in Florida. The electric group compositions date back as far as studio recordings of his best since 1995. Others recorded in 2000.brMichael Guy (also: Michael A. Guy) has played piano since 1974, though his medical situation has prevented extensive touring or traveling. He is a dedicated composer who also writes many of his compostions in hand written scores and is currently charting his best material on dedicated Notation Programs like Finale.brbrHe is also author of the Amazon-available Historical Fiction novel: "THE LAST RENAISSANCE MAN" and an upcoming Fantasy/Sci-Fi novel, "The Golden Flute" due to be published in 2009 which is based on a music related theme.
Artist Mission
To reach professional Jazz Musicians of considerable playing experience so that my group compositions (charts) may be recorded the way I envision them and not through the keyboard manipulative skills of sequencing, etc brbrSecondly, looking for support in 2009 when my goal of three CDs should be initially published; I plan on playing this solo music in small Jazz clubs or venues in 2009. I do not have the resources to launch such a taskbrMy jazz/new age music grows only in an environment where it can be played and recorded on a regular basis.brbrI have an extensive portfolio of instrumental compositions and I write jazz songs, some with a country/jazz influence in which I am the sole lyricist and composer.
