More information

The premiere of Conrad's String Quintet #2, performed by the Alfred Consort, will take place on March 13, 2005. Some of Conrad's honors include: Who’s Who in American Music, The International Who’s Who in Music (Cambridge), The International Encyclopedia of Women Composers, and Marquis’ Who’s Who in America. The quintet was written for new instruments created by the renowned string builder Robert Spear. These stringed instruments are of different dimensions, timbre and range than the traditional instruments, and expand the range of the traditional quintet. There will be an open rehearsal of the quintet at 4:30 p.m. with the composer leading the rehearsal and also speaking about the music. Both Spear and Conrad will speak at the 7:30 p.m. concert, and there will be a demonstration of the instruments. Conrad's beautiful and moving 'Elegie' for string quintet, dedicated to the innocent victims of the Iraqi invasion, will also be performed.
