Born Johnny Charles Collins on October twenty-forth nineteen-eighty. This artist better known as "Pookee" has been a freestyle rap artist for as long as he can remember. In early ‘05 after he signed with an indie label by the name of higher ground, which over the next six months made him a more complete artist. With an ear for music and an impeccable marketing plan "P" became the label's A&R. Pookee along with help from friend and label mate E-Dot aided Houston’s 97.9 the Box M.C. Wicked Cricket in one of Houston's premier talent contest. brbrAfter months, days, and nights in the studio the two were given the opportunity to record with the legendary Urbanscore Music. Powered by beats from Armani K. Smith (Eminem, Dr. Dre), and Gary "G-Wiz"(Public Enemy, publicenemy.com).
Shortly after returning from California, Pookee took a trip to New York to network on a few mix-tape ventures. A 2006 arrest and lack of label funding put a pause on the single/album set to be released under Higher Ground Entertainment/Urbanscore Music. Locally Pookee & E-Dot released the album entitled "Houston's Finest”. After producing and writing over 90% of his music, poor promotion finally lead Pookee to pursue a solo career, walking away from a label that he'll always have love for, but its the business.
