Skyler Allen was born and raised in Beaumont, TX and began performing as a Professional Musician in 1987 when he was only 17 Years Old. While starting out in the Texas Honkytonks in and around Beaumont, Skyler played along side the likes of Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd and Clay Walker and became one of the Top Bands in the area.
In 1990, Skyler brought his talent to Amarillo, TX and formed The Texas Steel Band.
After briefly returning to his Home Town of Beaumont in early 1992, Skyler returned back to Amarillo a few months later and once again quickly became one of the most popular Bands in town. After enjoying success as a highly sought after Act in Amarillo, Skyler was able to land sponsorships from Justin Boots, Wrangler, Mossy-Oak, Bud-Light and a Regional Western Wear Store even filming a Television Commercial for the Store Chain that gained Skyler notoriety in the surrounding States. Because of his growing Regional Fame and the success enjoyed from having 2 Original Songs capturing Airplay on Local Radio Stations, Skyler Allen and The Texas Steel Band began to Tour the Texas-Oklahoma-New Mexico Circuit playing Nightclubs, Fairs, Rodeos and Musical Festivals.
In 1993 Skyler Allen signed with BMI-Nashville to gain representation of his Original Material and still enjoys receiving Royalty Checks on a regular basis and has watched his relationship with BMI grow stronger each and ever year since. In 1995 Skyler decided to move to Nashville, TN where he could be closer to his Songwriting Career and once again was able to develop a loyal following of Fans and Friends. After playing the Nashville Clubs for a couple of years Skyler decided to try out the Atlanta Music Scene and moved to Cumming, GA, a country suburb North of Atlanta, in March 2000. Immediately after arriving in Georgia, Skyler formed the Skyler Allen Band and once again began playing Nightclubs, Fairs, Festivals and the occasional Party.
In early 2002 Skyler signed a Record Deal with Independent Record Label, Jada Records. With Jada Records on his side, Skyler was able to start playing larger events and even began serving as an Opening Act for many Major Country Music Artists. At the age of 32, Skyler Allen was at the height of his Musical Career, but then in August 2002 Skyler's Musical Career was suddenly put on hold as he was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. After undergoing Surgery in order to remove his Cancer, Skyler began a year of Chemotherapy Treatment which left him completely drained and unable to continue to play out. Although Skyler was completely run down and physically sick on a daily basis during his Chemotherapy, he still continued to write Songs and drew strength from his Music and the healing effect that it had. Although having Cancer is an ordeal that Skyler never wishes to go through again, he says he wouldn't trade the valuable lessons he learned from the experience for anything.
By 2004 Skyler had regained his strength and was once again ready to begin playing his Music for his Fans and Friends but had a gained brand new passion for not only his Music but for the overall effect he had on his audience. In 2006 Skyler Allen split with Jada Records due to Musical Differences and was immediately picked up by Manfree Records. Now with Manfree Records Skyler is once again focused on creating and recording Traditional Country Music that has a hint of Alternative Country Music that his home State of Texas has become known for.
Skyler's rich Baritone Voice and his straight ahead Texas Cowboy Style and Dress is often compared to a young George Strait. Although the Dress and Voice may be similar, Skyler Allen is certainly carving out his own little of piece of Country Music. Skyler's blend of Traditional Country Music and Alternative Country Music along with a few Southern Rock influences has given Skyler a strong foundation on which he has built his own unique Musical Style. Skyler's exciting Stage Show and strong Original Music has attracted an extremely loyal base of Fans and Friends that continues to give Skyler an audience to perform to. Throughout his Professional Career, Skyler Allen has been able to perform with such Major Country Artist as Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Clay Walker, Jeffery Steele, Julie Roberts, John Michael Montgomery, Pam Tillis, Jeff Bates, The Charlie Daniels Band, Darryl Worley, Neal McCoy, Confederate Railroad, Paul Overstreet, Wayne Toups, along with many other Country Artist. Skyler Allen has certainly proved through the years that he has what it takes to play in the Major League and our hopes at Manfree Records are that he can continue to enjoy the success that he so well deserves. Manfree Records is determined to take Skyler Allen as far as possible but is constantly looking for that one opening that will allow Skyler to move past the point that an Independent Label can offer.
