"I remember back in the late 1980's, early 1990's when Country Music just exploded with all these brand new Country Artist riding in like a Shining Knight on a White Stallion, man those guy's in my opinion saved Country Music. You had Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, and the list goes on and on.. Those young new artist back then went on to define Country Music as we know it today. Since that time we have seen new Artist come and go, it seems like every year since then there has been a new Artist that their label touted as the "Next Garth Brooks" and to no avail, they never seem to make it past their sophomore album, until now. Country Music today is seeing a brand new influx of very talented and gifted artist and to me it not only resembles the explosion of Artist that we saw in the early 90's but far surpasses it. Today's new Artist are bringing to Country Music a brand new feel, they are taking the music that they grew up on and play countless covers of in countless bars and nightclubs and adding their own touch to and conjuring up a style of music that will undoubtedly bring Country Music back to the "Garth Brooks Era" where everyone, as Alan Jackson profoundly stated, "Has Gone Country" On the forefront of this brand new explosion, in my professional opinion, is an Artist from Beaumont, TX the Home Town of Country Stars such as Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Bryd, Clay Walker, and let's not forget the great George Jones, by the name of Skyler Allen. Skyler Allen has obviously grew up with George Strait in his eyes and ears. Skyler Allen not only has an outstanding Baritone Voice that has characteristics of a young Strait but also dons the wardrobe of a true Texas Cowboy gone to town, the much noted trademark of King George himself. Now don't get me wrong, Skyler Allen is in no shape or fashion another George Strait wannabe, no sir, Skyler Allen has taken his Traditional Country roots and added an Alternative vibe that for a lack of better words appears to be a child born from the Traditionalist like Strait paired with Small Town Rock from the likes of John Mellencamp. Skyler Allen's style of music is a style that reflects the outgoingness of Garth when he was in his Heyday, rocking up Country Music as never seen before. Skyler is the guy that can pick up where Garth left off and continue to bring new audiences to Country Music. So is Skyler a Crossover Artist? Not by a long shot. Skyler is quick to tell you that his music is and forever will be Country and nothing more. When asked about the crossover style of Artist like Garth and Shania, Skyler has only one point to make. "I play Country Music, I am a Country Singer, if by chance the music I make happens to get played on a 'Rock Station' that's fine by me but I ain't going to try and cut two different versions to try and please two different crowds of people. If people who listens to Rock likes my music, well then they should start to think of themselves as Country Music Fans" As Skyler Allen begins his musical career on a national level you can bet that it won't be long before he joins the set of elite Artist that hangs out on the top of the charts. Another Artist that I see making big waves in the near future is the hard hitting artistry of Cory Morrow. Cory Morrow, another Texan, has been making noise down there for years. He is great friends with Pat Green and the two share a similar style when it comes to their music." If you would like to read the entire article from TopCountryStars.com Click this link.
