The Tongue Friction Massacre consists primarily of Adam Thorn and Andy Lambert - although others come and leave on occasion - and are based out of a sleepy college town called Greensboro, North Carolina. Tracing his first interaction with music back to a toy piano at age two, Adam is quiet, shy, and contemplative. His lyrics reflect upon such things as the mess of daily life, the ackwardness of the social world, and the swinging pendulum of relationships. His sense of humor, one could equate to a B-Horror film or a maliciously placed firecracker.
One part robot, two parts thoughtful individual, and 1/2 parts confused soul, Andy began playing the drums in elementary school. Finding it difficult to take the rockstar attitude seriously, he lends a degree of affability to the the group. Floundering, at times, in his attempts at life, Andy is like a shoe that won't stay tied.
Both Adam and Andy enjoy coffee, cigarettes, good books, film, 4:00 AM, pretty things, puns, and drinking in public parks/graveyards...
Artist Mission
As a musical endeavor, The Tongue Friction Massacre attempt to construct the types of melodies and rhythems that "get stuck in [your] head and won't go away, even when [you] want them to," (Joey Hart, Friend). Though most acts make the somewhat trite claim to originality, TFM, with intricate song structures, honest emotion, and tight-knit performance, do a good job of sounding unique.
Adam, always trying to out-do himself, constructs catchey vocal melodies with his thick, whimsical call. In addition to the guitar and piano, he delvs in mandolin, dulcimer, accordian, harmonica, and organ.
Andy plays drum set and various percussion, hammering out original beats and alternating rhythems, as well as singing backing vocals. He also helps with arranging, recording, and mixing/mastering.
