V was a UK five-piece boy band made up of Antony Thomas Brant, Aaron Buckingham, Mark Harle, Kevin McDaid and Leon Pisani.

Origins

Band member Antony Brant came up with the band name "V" because V is the Roman numeral for five and there were five members in the band. V made their debut at the same time as McFly by supporting Busted's arena tour in the spring of 2004.

Later success

Their first single, "Blood Sweat and Tears", was released in May 2004 and went into the UK Singles Chart at number 6. The video was shot in Miami, Florida in February 2004 and the single contained a collaboration with McFly, called "Chills in the Evening" written by Tom Fletcher from McFly and James Bourne from Busted. The band's second single, released in the August 2004, was a double A-side consisted of a new song "Hip To Hip" and a cover of the Jackson Five's song "Can You Feel It" (with a video of the band dressed as a double glazing salesman, ice cream man, postman, milkman and paperboy) and charted at number 5 in the UK chart.
The third single, "You Stood Up" made #12 in the same chart after an appearance on Top of The Pops, but their debut album of the same name failed to reach the UK Albums Chart. In February 2005, V announced their decision to split up on their website.

In August 2005, Mark Feehily of Westlife announced that he is gay and that he is currently in a relationship with V band member Kevin McDaid . In July 2006, band member Aaron Buckingham also announced he is gay in a guest column in Attitude magazine. Mark Harle is now the drummer for indie band 'Little Comets'.

According to their MySpace profiles, as of June 2007, McDaid was a photographer and Buckingham was singing in theatre shows in the United States.

In 2006, McDaid appeared on the television panel show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, in the mystery line-up. Phill Jupitus' team (including Tom Fletcher (McFly) and Alan Carr) managed to guess correctly who he was.

In Summer 2008 they appeared on Big Brother's Little Brother due to the fact that sixth evictee, Rebecca Shiner, had reportedly followed V for a year. She was reunited with a book containing all of her tickets and pictures of her with the band which she had collected during this time.
