A Static Lullaby is a post-hardcore band formed in Chino Hills, California in 2001. Their sound consists of distorted or screaming vocals countered with melodic singing.
BiographyEarly YearsA Static Lullaby came together after a casual high school jam session led its members to quit their existing bands and come together as one
. Formed in 2000 in Chino Hills, CA, the group began with singer Joe Brown, bassist Phil Pirrone, drummer Brett Dinovo, and guitarists Dan Arnold and Nathan Lindeman. Their first show was a mere two weeks after forming, and it started a buzz about the band that continued to be built upon throughout the local circuit. Their high energy sound began to influence other bands such as A Shattered Hope[1]
Touring And Losing MembersIn September 2001 the band recorded their first home made song called Withered. They released it as a demo and burned CDs with the song on it. They then recorded 2 other songs; A Sip of Wine Chased With Cyanide and A Song for a Broken Heart and released them on a demo, when in 2002 they released their EP, Withered, they sold 6,000 copies. After that they toured, performing the songs taken from the EP across the West Coast.
The band signed a contract with Ferret Records in 2002. After this, the band went on to create their first album called, ''...And Don't Forget to Breathe and spent 18 long months on the road supporting their debut album, sharing stages with such acts as AFI, My Chemical Romance and Brand New. After extensive touring, they signed to Columbia Records and recorded their second album, Faso Latido. It received mixed reviews and they were eventually dropped from Columbia. In this time, bassist and vocalist Phil Pirrone was involved in a serious car crash, causing him to rethink his life and eventually leave the band. He formed his own record label, Longhair Illuminati, and formed the band Casket Salesmen with guitarist Nathan Lindeman. A Static Lullaby reached a turning point and was signed by Fearless Records. They hunted for new musicians to fill the positions of Phil Pirrone and Nathan Lindeman. After finding John Martinez and Dane Poppin for guitar and bass, respctively, the band recorded their third full-length album. The self-titled record did significantly better than their previous album, and returned to the more aggressive style they had been known for.
The band recently parted ways with new guitarist John Martinez, and are not looking for a for a replacement. Dane Poppin, current member of the band stated "we are currently much better off and comfortable as a four piece." In addition, they found a permanent new drummer: Tyler Mahurin. Philip Manansala, a good friend of the band, is currently the touring 2nd guitarist.
Future PlansA Static Lullaby is currently writing and recording songs for an upcoming album, with its release estimated in Summer of 2008. They plan to do a small tour in the first part of this year, and new songs from the upcoming album will be played. The album will be produced by Steve Evetts. The band released a video stating that the title of the new album is Rattlesnake! and will be released on September 9, 2008.
