Album Summary
1982 was to prove one of After The Fire's busiest years since signing to CBS Records in 1978. With three major support tours with ELO and QUEEN in Europe and a mammoth trek around the US and Canada opening for Van Halen it is extrordinary that not only did they record and mix their worldwide hit 'Der Kommissar' in between all this 'hectivity', they also booked Eastbourne's ICC Studio 2 to lay down ideas for their next album 'AT2F'. However the band split up in1983 and the album was never released-until now. Mixed back at Peter Banks' own studio these are the result, capturing what the band did best, playing live and enjoy themselves!
Throughout the 70's and 80's, radio sessions played a big part in any bands success in the UK. For AFTER THE FIRE, this was no different: the opportunity to play live in an intimate and professional setting gave the band and fans the best of both live performances and LP sound. As founder member PETER BANKS says ""These radio sessions were very important because they gave you status and helped with the awareness of the band as one could deliver a quality live performance"". ATF are a rock/pop band whose roots are in the prog rock of the early 70's. The 20 tracks featured on this CD were recorded at three different radio sessions between 1979 and 1981, a time when ATF were at their commercial peak.
