For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with music. I love all styles of music from Country, Blues, Hip-Hop, to Rock and Roll. I have been surrounded by music my whole life and always wanted to be apart of it. From second grade into high school, I was always involved with music. My love for music led me to many of my influences. From Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Tina Turner, Anita Baker, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald to Nas, Jay-Z, B.I.G, Erick B and Rakim and many more from different styles of music. My most influential singer/songwriter is Mary J. Blige.
My pursuit of a career in music began in the summer of 1999. I wanted to start a group with my sister and friend. I had some songs written for us to sing, but when it came down to everything, the group didn’t last. That’s when I decided to go solo. I kept writing songs and putting them to instrumentals my brother, Donald Brown, produced; and in November 2000 that’s when I completed my first demo. It contains three songs written and produced by myself. The first song is titled, “You missed me”, the second song is titled, “He said…She said”, and the last song is a re-mix of “He said…She said”.
I submitted my demo to a company in Arizona called Talent 2K who submitted it to various record, management, and publishing companies. My new demo was completed June of 2004 with five songs written by myself. The song titles are, “Wandering Eyes”, “Nothing goes right”, “Loving”, “You don’t know me”, and “So Close”.
With my drive and determination and the help of my family and friends, I hope to achieve my goal to be a successful singer/songwriter in the music industry.
