Album Summary
(2-CD set) Had Al Bowlly survived World War II he would probably gone on to be one of the most noted singers of the twentieth century. It is believed that he influenced many other singers including Bing Crosby and Al Jolson. On this CD he can be heard performing some of his best songs, performing with the Ray Noble and Lew Stone bands in the 1930's. Although Al's life was short he left behind a considerable catalogue of music and some of the best is featured on this double CD. A loving look at the romantic side of England's top vocal star of the '30s, including: Can't We Meet Again?, Did You Ever See A Dream Walking, I Never Had A Chance, Midnight The Stars And You, Gosh I Must Be Falling In Love, This Is Romance, Song Without Words, Have A Heart, You Have Taken My Heart and many more.

Album Summary
2009 collection from the British vocalist. Nearly 70 years after his death, Al Bowlly is still fondly remembered as the most popular vocalist in Britain during the 1930s. Like Crosby, he showcased a huge range of material and was a true international recording artist. He was born in Mozambique to Greek and Lebanese parents and arrived in London (via Berlin) in 1927 as a member of Fred Elizalde's orchestra. In the early 1930s, Bowlly went solo and worked mainly with Ray Noble and Lew Stone to record over 500 songs. In 1934, he travelled to New York where he was hugely successful. In 1936 he returned to England, appearing mainly (but not exclusively) with his own band, the Radio City Rhythm Makers. He also joined with Jimmy Messini as Radio Stars with Two Guitars. He was killed when a German bomb exploded outside his apartment in 1941. Bygone Days.
