CareerB5 competed in many talent competitions, winning most of them, including shows by Radio Disney
. Jim McMahan, the manager of JAMM Entertainment Group, said he immediately saw the group's potential when they were presented to him by one of his associates. The group continued to do shows and perform with artists such as Mario Winans, Kanye West, Ginuwine, Usher, Fantasia, Bow Wow, Joe, amongst others, and performed for Albert II, Prince of Monaco.
B5 was introduced to executive producer Kevin Wales of World Wide Entertainment who signed the group to Bad Boy Records. But due to complications with producing matters the group of five brothers left Bad Boy Records in 2008.
B5 (2004—2005)P. Diddy pulled out some of the top producers in the business to work on B5's self-titled debut album, B5. Among the the producers were Rodney Jerkins, Ryan Leslie, Sean Garrett, Corna Boyz, Veit Renn and P. Diddy himself.
The lead single, "All I Do", originally recorded by The Jackson 5 and covered by Troop, was the suggested song to them by Jerkins and they recorded it without hearing either of the other two versions. Patrick acknowledges that their version is more reminiscent of the Troop cover than the original.
