Album Summary
An intoxicating collection of instrumental jazz for entertaining from some of our classic Green Hill jazz releases
Memory is a funny thing. Sometimes a sound, or a smell, or a picture can remind us of something we had long forgotten. For me, the key to many memories will always be a song. The sixties were a very turbulent time in the Twentieth Century, and music was beginning to change with the events that were reshaping the world. We heard Broadway show music, rock and roll, soul music, blues, fusion and many things that were new to us. The songs on this album are varied in style and sound, but I hope they will remind you of some happy times and events of the sixties, in your life.
These days love letters can be in short supply. With the advent of e-mailing, texting, tweeting, and other kinds of electronic communication, an old-fashioned love letter is almost nonexistent. Luckily, there are still romantic songs around that remind us of our loved ones, songs that are really musical love letters we can send any time we feel like it. Who could write something more romantic than "I've Got a Crush On You," or "Unforgettable?" Or what memory could we summon up that would be better than "The Last Time I Saw Paris," or "I'll Be Seeing You?" Truly, the songs we all know from the vast catalog of wonderful American composers, writing in their heyday of Broadway and the movies, can bring us closer to our loved ones than any 21st century phrases we can come up with. Language was important back then, and though we've let it slip through our fingers a bit in the past years, it never hurts to tune in to the emotions that come when we hear a phrase like "Because of you, there's a song in my heart." It's simple, and it's heartfelt. Who could ask for more romance than that? Join us while my friends and I take you back to the times when romance was as close as the nearest song. I hope you enjoy this collection of some of my favorite romantic songs we have recorded over the years, and let these gems be your musical love letters.
