Big Robert T, a true Blues vocalist extraordinaire, started his singing career at the age of five listening to his grandfather’s jazz band. His devotion to his art has taken him throughout the continental United States and abroad.
Big Robert T began his professional career in 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii, while serving his country. He has performed with many outstanding musicians including James Brown, The Coasters, Big Joe Turner, ZZ Hill, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Larry McCray Band and Melba LaBlanc.
Big Robert T’s travels have taken him to impressive venues for the performing arts in major cities such as St. Louis, Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Los Angeles and abroad to Australia. Big Robert was offered countless opportunities to return to these venues.
Big Robert T has had many challenges in his life, losing many loved ones to serious illnesses. These untimely deaths were enough to bring Big Robert down but, instead, his response was to perform benefit concerts around the country to assist families in need. Countless admirers are touched by his selfless acts of kindness in giving of his time and talent. Big Robert gave a benefit concert, “Listen Up”, for an ill friend. In addition, he performed at the Forrest McDonald benefit concert. For the past three years, he has performed with the Sun Henry Blues Band in Alaska for the “Blues for My Brother” charity event for the homeless.
Big Robert T recently moved from Anchorage, Alaska to Atlanta, Georgia. He has gained an enthusiastic following in Atlanta performing his original work and an innovative use of classic blues. Big Robert can often be heard on ABS Bluescast Radio and is a favorite at Wild Wing Cafe, Alpharetta, GA, Nik’s Place, Marietta, Georgia and Chips Bar and Grill, Winder, GA.
Big Robert T formed his band, The Scene of the Crime, shortly after arriving in Atlanta. The band is very versatile in their music, which is a major contributor to their success in such a short period of time. With over 300 years of experience among them, they are a very fine tuned group of musicians that take jazz, funk and the blues to another level.
Big Robert T and The Scene of the Crime band were selected to compete in the National Blues Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. After winning the local competition, they competed at the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. Both competitions required bands to perform original works. After competing at this level, Big Robert T and The Scene of the Crime band are now rated one of the Top 10 Blues Bands in the world!
