Album Summary
The key to Billy Preston's success, from the mid `70's to the early `00's has been diversity. With a career that has spanned from Ray Charles to the Beatles and from gospel to funk to rock, Preston was quoted in Rolling Stone circa `71 as saying "Young whites, young blacks, old people, jazz people - I want `em all." While that sort of open-armed pursuit of music fans everywhere helped to cement Preston's position as a worlwide superstar, it also makes his place in rock history hard to pigeonhole. He's too R&B for classic rockers, too pop for the funketeer camp, and not camp enough for the folks who remember the `70's for "Kung-Fu Fighting" or "Afternoon Delight"
When you get right down to it though, it's not about the genre classification, it's about the music.
This Ultimate Collection has 20 of Billy's best, ready to remind you not only why clerks had a hard time figuring out where to file him, but why they couldn't keep his records in the store!

Album Summary
Encouraging Words is steeped in exemplary playing and songwriting… and pure funky soul. Produced by George Harrison and Billy together, it is packed with originals and inspired covers, including 'My Sweet Lord' and 'All Things (Must) Pass' — donated by George before he released them himself — and a unique Harrison-Preston songwriting collaboration, the gospel hymn 'Sing One For The Lord'. This is Billy on the launch pad just before he rocketed to U.S. No.2 success with 'Outta Space' for A&M Records.

This Remastered CD includes the two Bonus Tracks from the 1993 release along with ‘How Long Has The Train Been Gone’ which is a previously unreleased track
• ‘As Long As I’ve Got My Baby’ / originally the planned B-side to the cancelled UK ‘My Sweet Lord’ single, Apple 29
• ‘All That I’ve Got (I’m Gonna Give It To You)’ / co-written with Doris Troy and Billy’s third Apple single in 1970.
• ‘How Long Has The Train Been Gone’ / written with Bruce Fisher and later re-recorded for Billy’s 1973 album Everybody Loves Some Kind Of Music

Album Summary
Billy Preston’s debut album for Apple Records was his vocal album debut too. Before this Billy was renowned merely as a wizard instrumentalist. Here, his impassioned vocals help create one of the best soul records of the 1960s. Produced by George Harrison, That’s The Way… expands Billy’s palette of gospel and R&B to embrace rock elements brought in by A-list players Keith Richards, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton.

This Remastered CD includes the three bonus tracks from the 1991 CD plus the previously unreleased ‘Something’s Got To Change’
• ‘Through All Times’
• ‘As I Get Older’ / an instrumental produced by Ray Charles and the 1970 B-side to Billy’s second Apple single, ‘All That I’ve Got (I’m Gonna Give It To You)’
• ‘That’s The Way God Planned It’ / stripped back ‘rock’ version
• ‘Something’s Got To Change’ / first recorded by Ray Charles in 1967

Album Summary
Digitally remastered edition of this 1973 album from the Pop/Soul vocalist and keyboardist. Sometimes dubbed 'The Fifth Beatle' because of his late '60s/early '70s association with the legendary group, the late Billy Preston started experiencing his first taste of mainstream success after he signed with A&M Records in 1971.His third album for A&M Records, Everybody Likes Some Kind Of Music contained primarily Preston compositions (mostly penned with songwriting partner Bruce Fisher) , highlighting his versatility as a stellar musician/keyboardist and singer. Included in the set, Billy's second US #1 R&B hit, the funky instrumental 'Space Race' along with a soulful reading of Bob Dylan's 'It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)' and a re-recording of 'How Long Has The Train Been Gone,' a song he had originally cut during his tenure with The Beatles' Apple label Cherry Red.

Album Summary
The singer/songwriter/producer/keyboardist extraordinare's greatest-hits set includes the number one pop singles "Will It Go Round in Circles'" and "Nothing From Nothing," as well as the number one R&B hits "Outa-Space" and "Space Race"; all were million sellers. The gentle ballad "You Are So Beautiful" was adapted into a gospel song. The included version of the gospel-ish bluesy ballad "I'm Really Gonna Miss You" is the single version and a different take than the one originally issued on Whole New Thing. A great showcase for Preston's massive talent. -All Music Guide
