24 year old Brooke Fraser is a pop phenomenon in New Zealand and Australia, where sales of her new album Albertine and debut What To Do With Daylight have together sold over 225,000 units. Brooke recorded Albertine in Hollywood with renowned producer Marshall Altman (Train, Marc Broussard & Matt Nathanson) and
is now ready to conquer the rest of the world. Brooke is a member of the Hillsong United Church for which she has written two wildly popular and best selling hymns. Her performance of one of those hymns, Hosanna has had over 1,400,000 views on Youtube.
Her solo album songs appeal just as much to fans of mainstream artists like Sarah McLachlan, Ingrid Michaelson and KT Tunstall. To date she has over 3 million plays on her Youtube channel, over 730,000 plays and 30,000 friends on her Myspace page. A national club tour and major festivals will start on the album release at the end of May.

The Works, Jonatha Brooke's seventh solo release, is a full-length album of previously unheard lyrics by Woody Guthrie, set to original music written and performed by Brooke. Brooke is one of a select group of artists to be invited into the Guthrie Archives to create new works from his vast collection of lyrics, prose, poetry and artwork. Brooke co-produced The Works with the legendary Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones). Recorded over a two-month period in New York City, several acclaimed musicians including keyboardist Joe Sample (Eric Clapton, B.B. King), bassist Christian McBride (Sting, Diana Krall), drummer Steve Gadd (Paul Simon, Eric Clapton), and steel guitarist Greg Leisz (Joni Mitchell, k.d. lang, Wilco), joined Brooke in the studio. The album features duets with artists Keb' Mo' on 'All You Gotta Do Is Touch Me'; Eric Bazilian on 'There's More True Lovers Than One' ; Glen Phillips on 'Sweetest Angel'; with a special guest appearance by Derek Trucks playing slide guitar on 'New Star.'

Flags is a dreamy, alternative-pop collection that showcases her agile soprano, lilting melodies, and knack for telling her stories through the lives of vibrant characters on songs like 'Betty' (co-written with Switchfoot's Jon Foreman and Ben West of Detroit indie duo The Real Efforts of Real People), 'Crows and Locusts,' ' Jack Kerouac,' and 'Ice on Her Lashes.' 'I've never used as many characters or as much narrative in my songwriting as I have on this record,' Fraser says. 'On my previous albums [2003's What To Do With Daylight and 2008's Albertine], I was singing completely as myself, which is why I think I got so burnt out from touring. Albertine was inspired by incredibly significant events and people and every time I'd sing I'd go back to that moment where my heart was ripped open. So singing such heavy songs nearly every night for three years took a toll. On Flags, it's still me speaking, but it's me speaking through the voices of different characters and their stories. It's more survivable.' The album also features a co-written duet with Aqualung's Matt Hales, titled 'Who Are We Fooling?'.

This one rocks. I co-wrote four songs here with my pal Eric Bazilian, and had a gas pumping it up a little bit. I also wrote my first original French song. It just suddenly seemed to come out of the walls of an old hotel in Paris. I just had to jump out of the bath tub and write it down quick enough not to forget it. The title track of singer/songwriter Jonatha Brooke's 2007 release CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR is a microcosm of all that makes her so compelling: starting out as a bluesy folk number, with simple guitar strums and an upfront, earnest vocal, the song changes gears a few minutes in and becomes a heavy-hitting, symphonic tangle of powerhouse guitars, sonic compression, and choral singing.
