Burzum s decade-plus of musical experimentation continues
with Umskiptar finding inspiration from the verses of famous
scandinavia poem Voluspa. Expanding the ongoing influence
of Nordic folk, the album adds more traditional heavy metal,
signature Burzum composition, but with a keener emphasis on
vocal delivery (again presented in Vikernes native tongue).
Vikernes says, Umskiptar is a return-to-roots album for me,
with a strong focus on atmosphere and wholeness. The vocals
are more important than on any previous album with a total of
66 stanzas making up the album s lyrics.

2011 release from the infamous Norwegian Black Metal band led by Varg Vikernes. From The Depths of Darkness contains Varg's favorite tracks from his first two albums Burzum and Det Som Engang Var re-recorded in 2010 the way he originally intended. Burzum's earliest recordings dating to 1992, 1993 and respectively. Full-length album Burzum with the mini-album Aske evokes the simplistic darkness that would later become the band's mark.
