Edith Baines Bunker Submitted on: 2009-03-15 |

| I have always found the MUSIC of Galaxie 500 to be enjoyable...I just could never get over lead vocals that sound like Edith Bunker from "All In The Family". I'm just saying... |

| Could be heard as pretty, but comes across as pretty dumbed-down instead. The playing, songwriting, singing, etc. all feel rather amateurish even if their hearts may be somewhere around right place (which is probably why the band got many people to enjoy these compositions). |

| Their is a formula that seems to be followed and it makes it hard for most of the tracks to stand out. Also this dean wareham can't really sing. what is suprising is that the formula is good enough that it doesnt bother me at all. The music is really good even if the bass player looks like an a-hole. GREAT Album |

It bends rather than breaks Submitted on: 2004-09-29 |

| Whiny, annoying whus-pop for aging hipsters. But these eunuchs have a way with a melody so I dislike it far less than I thought I would. Flaccid, yet (somehow) fun. Nice drumming too. |

Why so hyped? Submitted on: 2004-08-23 |

| If I could choose any Galaxie 500 album to buy, it'd be this one. Having said that, there are only 3 songs on here that I enjoy listening to, and two of them are covers ("Strange", the Twinkies song; "Ceremony"; "What A Pity"). The rest feel unfocussed and wonky, much like the tunes on other albums. I think you'd be better off listening to a friend's copy and spending your money on something else (Pylon comes to mind, as do the first two Lilys albums). |
