A good collection, but brief and incomplete Submitted on: 2003-11-06 |

| Juice Newton's albums have straddled the line between pop and country since her debut album in 1975, and this CD is no exception. "Greatest Country Hits" allegedly offers Juice Newton's most popular country singles from her Capitol years, but falls a little short. "Heart Of the Night" is included, but while the single performed well on the pop charts, it never scored on the country charts, because it's not a country record--so its adult contemporary/rock feel seems out-of-place on this collection. Also, the Top 40 country hit "Let's Keep It that Way" is ignored, in favor of the low-charting "Stranger At My Door." So, the CD doesn't actually live up to its promise. Even with its inconsistencies, the CD contains the country songs people are likely to buy the CD for: "The Sweetest Thing" and "Break It To Me Gently," which were Newton's only Top 10 country songs prior to 1984, when she re-signed with RCA Records. Also, a real plus is Newton's original version of "It's A Heartache," a song Bonnie Tyler would later take to the top of the charts. (Even though Newton's version was a hit on the pop charts, and not the country charts, it has enough country flavor to fit in with this CD.) All in all, fans would do better to buy the wonderful import "Country Classics" or 1987's "Greatest Hits (and more)," which are more comprehensive of Newton's 1978 to 1983 chart successes. But this is still a pretty good CD; it's Juice Newton, after all. |

Juice at her best Submitted on: 2003-09-13 |

This is an excellent collection, and includes a great song "Stranger at my Door", from the "Dirty Looks" album. The other songs included are often found on similar compilations. However, there are a couple of other nice gems here as well. What I find really surprising, is that the song "Runaway Hearts" is still being overlooked, and not on this compilation either... This song also came from the album "Dirty Looks". What is truely amazing, is that all of her albums have been released onto c.d. format, except for "Dirty Looks". I hope someone eventually recognizes that this album is worthy of the c.d. format, or at least puts out a second "Country Collection". |

A Terrific Hits Collection! Submitted on: 1999-09-11 |

| Juice Newton's earliest country hits are here! A terrific blending of favorites from the 70s like "Sunshine" and the 80s like the #1 hit "The Sweetest Thing." This is a very down-to-earth album, simple and sweet. Newton sounds terrific on every song, espeacially her 1983 hit "Stranger At My Door." I recommend this to anyone interested in the "country side" of Juice Newton. |
