Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

it is indeed a minor threat!
Submitted on: 2009-07-04
I burned a copy of Minor Threat to a co-worker after discussing all our fav punk bands,he mentioned Pennywise,Bad Relion,NOFX, Rancid ect.So I thought he would appreciate the direct rigged hardcore punk of Minor Threat, whom which influenced pretty much every punk band to follow. But to my surprise he disliked them, saying that it sounded as if they needed guitar lessons!?!the problem here is that punk nowadays isnt punk, its too polished, overproduced, hardly edgy, hardly anything to retaliate against ,maybe write about the gas prices who knows. Its become an outlet for tatooed posers and whiners, yeah we know "work sucks" but you live in the suburbs with your mom.Minor Threat kept it short and direct, its music to vent too. Like Black Flag,Subhumans,DRI and so on,ok life sucks get over it and change it!!

these guys energized a scene filled with drugs and created a song that has become the term for the non-drug using subculture of punk "Straight Edge." Songs like "In My Eyes" are foreshadowing here,a life of service that Ian MacKaye is to be espousing in Fugazi who's "Suggestion" is a song many women admire.I'm never gonna forget my fellow people if I keep listening to this stuff..F yeah..
Gets You Fired Up

This classic hardcore release needs more reviews, it should have about 500 or more like other classic bands I think.
I am totally into old school hardcore punk, and Minor Threat, Black Flag, Fear, D.R.I (early), Circle Jerks, Germs, Bad Brains, and Dead Kennedy's are essential listening for early bands of the genre.

The first thing I noticed when popping in this disc is how well it sounded, not distant or underproduced like some early 80's bands; it stomps on you right from the start and keeps spitting in your face track after track.

Let's face it in todays world, it hasn't really gotten any better, perhaps worse and anyone who could relate to the anger and angst in this classic release will find it suits todays world just as well as it did back then. If you want to scream at the world for all the corruption and lies, all the B.S you put up with on a daily basis, just crank this one up and I guarantee you'll instantly feel better....even happy, I know it always makes me happy to hear it.
Life Changing

It might sound cliche, but yeah, this album changed my life. Until I bought this (a couple months ago) I hadn't really given old-school punk or hardcore much of a fair shot. I was never impressed with the music, and the lyrics were always too immature and self-centered. This was probably the first real hardcore album I bought, and I only bought it because so many people were saying that I had to hear it. They were right. This album totally changed my opinion on older punk and helped introduce me to what are now some of my favorite bands (namely, Discharge). I found that I could completely relate to what Ian was talking about and the whole album is incredibly inspiring. The lyrics are intelligent, the music is high energy, and the songs are really catchy. The best on the album are, in my opinion, "In My Eyes", "Guilty of Being White", and "Minor Threat". But there isn't any song on here that I would really say is bad, some just don't quite stand up to the very best. Essential for anyone who wants to get into this style.
buy this!

if you like music anymore powerful then barry manilow, or more significant then insync, and you don't own this CD yet, there is something wrong with you.
Among all the hardcore/punk albums ever made, this and bad brains are simply in a league of their own.
A fan of rock/punk/hardcore/or metal not owning this, would be like a rock guitarist never hearing Jimi Hendrix.
