Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

Finding Led Zep in here is like playing "Where's Waldo?"...
Submitted on: 2007-03-30
This album is often touted as being worthwhile because of the inclusion of members of Led Zeppelin. While indeed they do show up here and there, their influence is never really felt. Rather, this is a rambling stylistic piece that displays lack of direction more than broad range. While there are some beautiful and/or catchy tunes, the production is weak. The title song sounds like something Kinky Friedman got his inspiration from. By the time of this album, PJ had spent most of the money made in his early success as a hot performer on the Shindig! show. He apparently was disappointed that Tom Jones succeeded by borrowing PJ's own stylistic approach. A good artist, better appreciated by his earlier more pop-oriented efforts. One of many performers who just never could move along with changing music styles in the later 60's.

This album is one of the great lost albums of the Sixties. Having no knowledge of P.J. Proby other than this album, I was very surprised what a great musical range he has. Folk, blues, rock, country, he covers it all on here, which does kind of make the album a bit inconsistant. No, the album is a collection of inconsistant styles, but that's what makes it so different, and the coolest part is that the backing musicians are all four members of Led Zeppelin, so that alone is worth the price. A must-have obscure album.

A different sound to this album, some ballad, like "Little Friend", a lovely song, and the beautiful"Reflection of your Face", then more up tempo in "Empty Bottles" and"Sugar Mama",
an excellent album.
A must for any Led Zeppelin fan.

This is a great cd and it is a must for any Led Zeppelin fan. This is because it was the last album that all 4 members played on before forming their own band. Plant plays harmonica. Page plays guitar. Jones plays bass and keyboards. And Bonham plays drums. Buy this album!
