I stumbled upon Paul K in a discount store..... Submitted on: 2004-08-11 |

| The reason his CD " Garden of Forking Paths" was in a discount store is that it was recorded in Europe in the early 90s, and got shipped to Daves Dollar with a bunch of other imports. Thank God it wasnt listed in Amazon.coms " Sellable Cd " area, because I would have sold it without ever opening it.The picture of the old guy on the cover reminded me of Old Bull Lee, Wm. Burroughs, and I really thought it was some arty poetry or something. When i played it the first time, I was blown away. EVERY song touches some deep dark crevice in my system.I actually play guitar for a living down in Mississippi, and I NEVER listen to the words of songs. to me they'vs always been the wasted space between guitar rides. But with this guy, I listen.I'm also a recovering junkie/drunk, been clean 18 years, so I think thats why his perspective grabbed my attention.PLUS, this is just GOOD DAMN ROCK music. NOT retro, not techno, it just IS what it IS. I ordered Love is a Gas, and its JUST AS GOOD. Its not the squeaky clean love CD that I've seen other people say it was.It is a little more laid back at times, but his words cut deep....I ordered 2 more Cds yesterday, I cant seem to get enough.PAUL K , wherever you are, you caused a 51 yr old exjunkie, exhippie, effects pedal addict to actually STOP and LISTEN. |

Best Album by a Great Artist Submitted on: 2004-02-27 |

| David Trundle should throw Steve Poulton out of his house and listen to this CD. It's obnoxious when people who have never even heard a CD skew the ratings with ill informed reviews. Get a life, David. This album is easily one of the best of the 1990s. |

My Favorite Paul K album. Submitted on: 2002-10-28 |
|
| This is a great album by one of America's most overlooked artists. I can't really call him underrated, because he gets universally good reviews from the few of us who know about his work. This album is one of his best and is the only one that included Glen Kotche (now of Wilco) on drums. This album is destined to become a cult classic. |
