Smooth, Sentimental Sounds From Velvet-Voiced Jerry Vale Submitted on: 2009-07-22 |

"17 Most Requested Songs" is a nice greatest hits collection from Jerry Vale, another one of the great "saloon singers" in the vintage of Sinatra, Bennett, Martin, and Martino.
With a smooth, polished voice, and a pleasing, easy delivery, Vale has captivated audiences for many years, and this collection will definitely command the attention of the easy listening crowd.
Songs like "Mama," "Old Cape Cod," "Al-Di-La," "Arrivederci, Roma," and Innamorata" will be enjoyed by those who enjoy their singing nice and easy. |

Jerry Vale sings so well on this album that he could easily charm the birds right out of the trees; and this album proves it. I like the sound quality and the artwork is nicely done.
"Have You Looked Into Your Heart" gives us Jerry's vocals squarely in the spotlight with a lush musical arrangement. The chorus in the background harmonizes so well and the strings sound great--and Jerry never misses a note! He sounds very strong on this number. "Mama" is a song that many people can identify with even if there are Italian lyrics. The guitar sounds great and Jerry sings this to perfection. Listen also for "You Don't Know Me." "You Don't Know Me" is a stunning love ballad that gets the royal treatment from Jerry who sings this with great sensitivity.
"Tears Keep On Falling" has a lush musical arrangement and Jerry sings this as if it were the freshest tune I had ever heard! Jerry's voice is full of strength and warmth as well. "Dommage, Dommage (Too Bad, Too Bad)" also showcases Jerry's incredible voice as he shows off his operatic qualities. "Dommage, Dommage (Too Bad, Too Bad)" is easily a highlight of this album.
"Pretend You Don't See Her" has a wonderful melody and Jerry handles the tempo changes effortlessly; and "'O Sole Mio (My Sunshine)" sparkles like gold in Jerry's capable hands! Jerry sings this beautifully and the strings enhance the natural beauty of this number.
"The Impossible Dream" is another hit for Jerry who sings this better than just about anyone ever could! Listen also for "Arrivederci, Roma" which Jerry sends straight out of the ballpark. The accordion sounds great and makes this number feel more Italian; Jerry's touch also helps to make "Arrivederci, Roma" glisten.
"Innamorata (Sweetheart)" really sounds special when Jerry sings this; and I am sure that you will enjoy this track by Jerry. This is classic pop music at its very best!
Overall, fans of Jerry Vale will consider this a must-have for their collections. People who are more casual fans will also want this as a type of single CD retrospective that lets them get the best of Jerry's work without buying numerous albums.

I bought this as a Chanukah gift for my mother. She is thoroughly enjoying the CD.
She plays and sings along with the songs all day long! While this music is not my
cup of tea, Jerry's voice is wonderful and rich and he's bringing my mother hours
of listening (and singing!) pleasure. It was worth the purchase just for that reason. |

THE SCORCESE SOUNDTRACK MASTER. Submitted on: 2005-01-20 |

| Jerry Vale is a premiere performer, both studio and live. Where would Marty Scorcese's gangster classics have been without Jerry on the soundtracks? These 17 tracks are great, sung with incredible passion and phasing. How did Robert Goulet score a top 10 hit with his version of "My Love Forgive Me" over this masterwork. Maybe this explains Elvis shooting the television? |
