It's impossible to buy this sacd in Spain (few of them are avalaible), but this version it's amazing. Not hybrid version.
Six Stars! If you're stressed, get this one.

Brubeck's quartet brings out the best features of every performer. This CD is definitely worth buying since it reflects both a happy mood and some incredibly challenging rhythms. It's obvious these artists were really 'in the zone' when they recorded and performed this music.

It's great CD. It's great to take a break and get an alternative perspective of our fast paced life and de-stress with this music. Take five! And buy this CD.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet, TIME OUT, album is archetypal Brubeck & Company West Coast Jazz at its best.

You are forewarned. Once you listen to The Dave Brubeck Quartet*s, TIME OUT, album, resistance will be futile. You will be assimilated into the Brubeck Jazz Collective.

My introduction to Brother Dave and Company was as a 17-year old All American Bluejacket in Cold War service on the precursory cusp of Castro*s New Cuba, and the impending Cuban Missile Crisis. By day, I searched from the sky for fleeing Cubans escaping socialism, and, at night, listened to Dave and Company on terra firma. These jazz beginnings of mine occurred via total immersion in the jazz sounds emanating from a Columbia 33 and a third LP, while reclining on my bunk in communal Navy Barracks 628 located at Boca Chica Field, Naval Air Station Key West, Florida. I quietly and reflectively listened to Dave*s Quartet, re-listened to them repeatedly, again, again, and again --- as I drank in the *You cannot listen to them only once* West Coast Jazz, signature Dave Brubeck Quartet sounds of those, now, jazz classics, TAKE FIVE and BLUE RONDO A LA TURK.

It did not take that many 33 and a third RPM rotations before TAKE FIVE and BLUE RONDO A LA TURK took me and hooked me, and I became musically one with Dave, Paul, Eugene, and Joe. Ever since, unbeknownst to the Dave and the rest of his Jazz Quartet, stealth, fifth member element, young Watakushi-wa, me, was permanently added to their musical quartet.

What followed has been a jazz music listening life of enjoying and loving to hear Dave play solo or joined in jazz concert by his various Bands of Jazz Brothers.

LIVE LONG, LISTEN WELL & PROSPER!
Best selling jazz album of all time

I've always loved the Dave Brubeck Quartet. As a young drummer, my first jazz band was a clone of Brubeck's famous group. His drummer, Joe Morello was and still is, a favorite of mine and a huge influence.

This is a "must have" recording for anyone interested in jazz of any style. The song, "Take Five" written in 5/4 is also the biggest selling jazz single in history. Morello's drum solo is still a lesson in taste for young drummers to study. The flip side of the single was another huge and popular piece titled, "Blue Rondo A La Turk," written in 9/8. This song is included in its longer full version.

An all time classic recording.
Take time out to revisit this classic

Dave Brubeck's "Time Out" is one of the icons of jazz. Recorded fifty years ago, it contains some of the most well-known and well-loved jazz songs ever written, such as Blue Rondo a la Turk, and Take Five. And while any jazz fan will certainly have this in his or her collection, those same fans might also not give this a spin very often. Truly, this deserves frequent listening, as the music develops and weaves unexpectedly even as the listener grows more familiar with it. Paul Desmond's plaintive sax work in response to Brubeck's insistent solo passages, and the give and take of all the musicians, who always try to give a little more than they took from the last guy to solo, just keeps the music fresh, alive, and exciting every time one listens to it. Although there were many great jazz albums recorded during the same year as this, including the equally legendary Kind of Blue, this recording is decidedly in the upper echelon of the all time great jazz recordings list. If you don't own this, you need to, if you do own it, put it in your CD player today. Either way, you won't regret it.
