 A Latin American legend!

Sandro was the most representative artistic figure in the sixties. Owner of an enviable charisma, he emblematized the spirit of the 60's as any one Latin American singer.
There are many reasons that support his successful career. First at all, his multidimensional facets as singer. He was a sensitive crooner sand so he captivated the great audiences in what concerns the genre of sweet and inspirational Ballades (Maniquí, Asi, Porque yo te amo, Penumbras, Paris se arrodilla ante ti) ; On the other hand he sang easy to listen and pleasant themes (Rosa Rosa, Una muchacha y una guitarra, Tengo) ; but besides he worked out as illustrious troubadour (Trigal, Sr. cochero) ane even religious songs (Las manos). But the main event about his success turned around the fact he pleased the women as men as well. He was a true idol of crowds in the late sixties until the middle seventies.
Of course, there were decisive influences in his style. Elvis Presley, Engelbert Humperdinck and Pat Boone. But meanwhile he also exerted his influence over several generations to come.
Today, when he is living his golden years, it would be convenient to turn our attention respect this generational icon.
Long live for him!

UNO DE LOS MEJORES TRABAJOS DE SANDRO

Este disco tal vez haya marcado el comienzo de la consagración definitiva de Sandro. Por primera vez, en este disco Sandro ha dejado completamente de lado los "covers" y asumiendo los riesgos, ha incluido unicamente temas en los cuales él es coautor de los mismos junto con el inolvidable Oscar Anderle.
El resultado fue un disco de leyenda, que incluye dos de sus más grandes éxitos de todos los tiempos: "Penumbras" y "Asi".
Este trabajo tambien ha marcado una madurez interpretativa que hace la gran diferencia con respecto a los discos anteriores.
Si bien predominan las baladas con letras melodramáticas, queda en claro que Sandro no se ha olvidado completamente de sus raices rockeras. En efecto, "Yuma Yoe" y "Tengo" tienen alguna reminiscencia de sus primeros discos. También se destacan "Por algún camino", "Me amas y me dejas" y "París ante ti". Los acertados e impecables arreglos musicales a cargo de Jorge Lopez Ruiz han contribuido decisivamente al exito que ha significado en su momento el lanzamiento de este disco, y también de su siguiente album ("Sandro de America"). En suma, es uno de los mejores trabajos de Sandro que tal vez haya marcado el comienzo de su consagración. Vale la pena destacar que en Argentina, cuando este CD fue reeditado, se han incluido dos bonus tracks: una version del clásico de Tom Jones, "Dalila", que había aparecido en su momento unicamente en un EP, y una versión alternativa de "Me amas y me dejas". Sin dudas, una verdadera joya.

| Sin duda alguna < La magia de Sandro es una de las joyas musicales mejores de el. Hace mas de 30 anos que yo tengo este LP (CD) Sandro usa su estilo de romanticismo para llevarle a ustedes sus interpretaciones de un modo que llega al corazon de ustedes. Sin duda alguna y con muchos criterios Sandro de america ha sido el mejor cantante baladista de america en los ultimos 40 anos. Sandro lleva su magia hacia usted! Sandro: At his best, no comparison

| This album contains some of the best music I've ever heard, period. Not just when compared to other hispanic artists, but that of any musician. Other works by Sandro range from being every bit as good as the best titles from this record, to corny, overly melodramatic ballads! His music won't strike you as being immediately different and original the way more modern music does, with it's overdubs and sound effects but rather they draw their strength from a combination of heart-felt, poetic, yet bitter lyrics, powerful orchestral accompaniment, and great melodies.(However, Sandro's attempts at rock are in my opinion, anything but original.) I'm refering strictly to SOME of his love songs such as "Penumbra". A sad, haunting tune about rejection depicted in a unique way because he actually spends most of his composition simply describing the lady in question. Only towards the end does he reveal her indifference towards him as it builds to a big finish! Anyway check this whole album out. |
