beach walk 4 a.m. Submitted on: 2008-07-16 |

| A walk along the beach with the moon amoungst the stars. The wind barely blowing. Coffee and quiet conversation afterward in an all night diner.Such a great musical journey. My 2nd copy has been ordered since the year it first came out.Timeless. |

| Bob James here recorded with David Sanborn. Although David is not the best saxophonist on the planet, (he might try playing other saxes besides the alto), they blend nicely. Bob James has over 25 CDs on the market & has been recording since the 1960s. He started his own group "Fourplay" in 1989 when he recorded with future Fourplay members Lee Ritenour (later replaced by Larry Carlton), Nathan East, & Harvey Mason on his CD "Grand Piano Canyon." David Sanborn has been a part of Marcus Miller's group Legends which made a great DVD in 1999 at the Montreux Jazz Festival. About the other musicians: Steve Gadd is a great drummer & has performed with Chick Corea ('05-'06), Joe Sample, & others. Marcus Miller has played bass with Miles Davis. Besides bass, he also plays-sax, keys, drums, percussion, clarinets, & programs instruments too. In my opinion, he could be a 1 man band just with the bass! Paulinho DaCosta came over from Brazil in the late 1970s with his group (Octavio Bailey, bass; Don Grusin, keys; Clodio Slon, drums). He is known as the best living percussion master. Eric Gale (guitar) made his last recording before he died with Bob James on "Grand Piano Canyon." Al Jerreau started recording in the 1980s & was the first musician in history to get a grammy award in all the music categories! Paul Jackson Jr. has made his career performing with greats such as: Jeff Lorber, David Benoit, & others. He also has CDs of his own out too. Well... Enjoy this CD! |

| If you like Smooth Jazz, you must own this CD. For a standard CD, the recording is excellent. I would love to hear the Double Vision CD on a Gold Master disc or on a SACD. I have owned this for many years and it is still one of my all-time favorites. I still use it to audition new speakers and audio equipment. |

Double your pleasure Submitted on: 2005-08-23 |

Back in the heyday of smooth jazz, this particular album brought it ALL together - pianist Bob James of "Taxi" fame and saxophonist David Sanborn, fresh off his "Change of Heart" triumph. Add singer Al Jarreau on the all-time classic, "Since I Fell For You," and this was all you heard in the mid-1980s. Think "Moonlighting" and David's appearances on Letterman's Late Night.
"Maputo" is still a staple in Sanborn's arsenal today when he performs in concert. It still draws a strong audience reaction.
"Double Vision" belongs in the Smooth Jazz Hall of Fame. |
