Good music Submitted on: 2009-01-24 |

| Unfortunately I had to send this CD back because it skipped all over the place. It wasn't used, just a bad recording I guess. The songs are great. I would recommend it if you want all their top hits. |

| Awesome CD....I have listened to "How Can I Be Sure" dozens of times since I got it. And these are the original recordings, I can't stand the CD's that are different recordings than the original ones from way back when. If you are a Rascals fan, you will love this CD. |

Minus one star for audio quality Submitted on: 2008-10-12 |

| No one can argue with the content. Amazingly consistent quality produced over a very short time span in the 60s. Felix Cavaliere's writing and singing are so soulful. I saw him perform most of these live just yesterday in St. Petersburg, Fla. At 66, his voice is almost the same! He's not trying to look like a rock star, but the music survives intact. His current band recreates this energy, especially the drummer with the ponytail. This CD came out 23 years ago and has not been remastered. Why not? This music deserves the royal treatment. |

Definately Ultimate Submitted on: 2008-08-25 |

| For once a greatest hits or best of CD that lives up to it's name. I find that most of these type albums give you the songs you were looking for but also tend to be loaded with more songs that are anything but the best of what the artist did. I had forgotten just how much The Rascals had done. This collection brought their music back powerfully. I was mainly looking for a collection with People Got to be Free on it and found it had been omitted from the redone TimePeace album which makes no sense. Add songs if you like but don't take songs off the original for a reissue. Looked at The Ultimate Rascals and found everything I wanted. Upon listening I also discovered many songs I didn't remember as being the Rascals even though I knew nearly every song on the CD. Recommend this CD for any Rascals fan or any oldies fan for that matter. CD could be used as a base for any oldies radio station. Most excellent CD. |

Love it! Submitted on: 2008-05-31 |

| I've read much criticism about whites who dared borrow or be influenced by black artists, hence the denigrating tag blue-eyed soul. Doesn't everyone try to emulate those who first turned them on and made them want to be musicians? All artists "rip off" those who came before them to some extent. The bottom line for a consumer is simply, "Were you any good?" These guys were friggin' brilliant. They created a distinctive original sound that blends emotional, screaming vocals with lovely harmonies and beautiful melodies. Terrific songwriting. I am delighted I got this collection and highly recommend it to anyone. |
