HELL YEAH! Submitted on: 2009-11-14 |

| BACK WHEN DISCO WAS ON THE RIZE AND HAIR BANDS WERE THE NORM, MY ONLY ALTERNATIVE WAS THE SEX PISTOLS, RAMONE'S ETC. PUNK WAS A SLAP THAT ROCK NEEDED DESPERATELY. IN 1994, I PICKED UP GREEN DAY'S "DOOKIE." I WAS VERY IMPRESSED, BUT TO BE HONEST, DID NOT THINK THEY WOULD MAKE IT WITH THEIR PUNK ROOTS. NEVERTHELESS, THEY PROVED ME WRONG. I MUST SAY, MY FAVORITE IS "BASKET CASE." THE DRUMMING BRINGS BACK MEMMORIES OF KEITH MOON IN HIS HEYDAY. WHEN MY DAUGHTER LEAVES FOR SCHOOL, I SNEEK OUT HER GREEN DAY. TOO OLD? WHO CARES! |

One of the definitive '90s albums Submitted on: 2009-05-15 |

Well, it's been a long time since I've written a review, but I figure I'll come back on something big and amazing, like Green Day's "Dookie". Not much is needed to be said about this album, because a lot has already been said.
Even though this is one of Green Day's earlier albums, it shows that they've got skills in the songwriting department, as shown in such classics as "Chump", "Longview" and "Welcome To Paradise". As young as they were when they wrote these songs, they make them interesting and exciting. Then we have more riff-rocking anthems like the classic "Basket Case" and the melodic, shout-a-long "She". We even get to hear a bit of country influence in "Pulling Teeth"! Then comes along the mid-tempo "When I Come Around" a nice break in the faster pace of other songs.
Overall, if you like this style of music, you really can't go wrong here. This is one of those albums that you can play all the way through and love every second of it. It's the sound of thundering guitars and basses, and energetic drums. It's the sound of a summer day outside in California. It's the sound of classic Green Day! Thanks for the time, and peace. |

| My daughter likes this Green Day cd. I don't listen to it, I am not into them. I like about 2 of their songs, I think they sound like kangaroos are kicking them in their stomachs as they sing. But to each his own. |
