A Knopfler Masterpiece Submitted on: 2009-07-03 |

Mark has always been ecclectic, even his hits such as Sultan's Of Swing or Tunnel of Love (as Dire Straits) do not quite fit into any one mold, and are different from standard rock fare.
On this record he showcases his influences and loves more - country, rock, jazz, and he does it all with great proficiency and with solid songs. He has a vast catclog, including some memorable performances with other artists, but if you have missed this one, you should get it.
Another record which shows how wonderful a talent he is. |

outstanding album Submitted on: 2009-06-17 |

| His first solo outing was great. There are some fantastic gems here, like Rudiger, Done with Bonaparte etc. And unlike his later albums there is considerable guitar play as well. A must have for any lover of Dire Straits and MK. |

How did I miss this one??? Submitted on: 2008-11-25 |

| I am a fan of MK but I have been disappointed with his creations of late. This CD somehow slipped by me & it has been a great surprise...a throwback to the Dire days!! |

| Great CD but cut 13 & 14 were flawed. Too bad because I really liked "Done with Bonaparte" |

His best all around solo album! Submitted on: 2008-05-03 |

I believe this is Knopfler's best all around solo effort ... it's beautiful, tender, aggressive at times and just wonderful as a whole. He is such a genius and his guitar playing shines through pretty much every song along with his subtle understated vocals. Really excellent...way to go Mark!
