Great compilation Submitted on: 2009-04-29 |

| As a boomer, Joni Mitchell has always held a fond place in my heart, and listening to this CD reminds me of why. From her folk songs like Woodstock, The Circle Game, and Both Sides Now, to her early pop songs like Chelsea Morning, Big Yellow Taxi, and You Turn Me On I'm a Radio, to the melancholy songs from Blue, to the campy pop songs like Raised on Robbery and Help Me, this CD is a smorgasbord of the types of music that has endeared Joni Mitchell to listeners over the years. There is not a weak track on the disc. Highly recommended. |

Joni Mitchell: Worth Collecting Uncompiled Submitted on: 2009-01-02 |

| This item popped up as a "recommended" item based upon my selection of other Joni Mitchell items. Oddly, I never purchse compilations (unless forced to such as in the case of Mark Knopfler offerings) - but such is the sterling power of this iconic creatrix, I could not stop myself from at least crusing the offerings of this album, taking a musing cruise through many subtle memories attached to Mitchell's oevre. I would suggest that anyone interested in experiencing Ms. Mitchell (never pretend that you will understand this artist in her work!) must commit themselves to eschewing "best of"s and always purchasing full albums. Her clangers are as important as her on-target offerings. However, just as Kenny G is the gently waving waft of pseudo-jazz in the foyer that can drag a novice through the door to endless delights (think Anthony Braxton, Miles Davis, Albert Manglesdorf, Eric Dolphy et. al), so, too, the Hits album serves to hold the door temptingly ajar for the first sweet taste that hooks. |

Blast from the past and more Submitted on: 2008-02-14 |

The 1960s had their share of sad and wistful hits, and Joni Mitchell was behind more than a few. "Both Sides Now" and "The Circle Game" were coffehouse favorites well into the 70s, when folk rock was fading and mindless disco was taking over the AM and FM airwaves. But even in the post-modern world of the early 21st century, Joni's sweet, sad sounds still satisfy. "Hits," a compendium of Joni's most popular music, gives us the exquisitly-produced and syncopated big hits like "Help Me" and "Free Man in Paris" but a few lesser-known work as well. "Hits" covers the peak of Joni's career and stays firmly on the pavement, but even the casual listener will appreciate the strength of her melodies, the complexity of her arrangements and the bittersweet soulfulness of her lyrics.
I listen to "Hits" over and over and love it more every time. |

My experience Submitted on: 2008-01-20 |

| The cd is fine, my daughter enjoyed it. However amazon could not meet the delivery they had commited to doing, so it got here much later. This caused me to cancel another order I had made at the same time. If I ever order any more items from amazon it would not be because they were on my short list. |
