Still a favourite of mine @}->--- Submitted on: 2008-08-24 |

I still really love Pebbles. I wish she'd release more music. Always is still a favourite cd of mine that I still listen to every now and then. This cd is my favourite of hers and it's got some cool fast tracks on it and then a few great ballads.
Giving You The Benefit is probably the best song here - it's fast and catchy and great to dance to, and my favourite ballad is Always and Why Do I Believe. She does a fantastic song with Babyface called Love Makes Things Happen and I can't hear it enough. The majority of songs were written by L.A Reid and Babyface who to me, are a great combination. I love their work and those songs combined with Pebbles' great, soft, soulful voice are a fantastic mix.
If you love R&B and 90's music, then this is a perfect cd to listen to. It's so good and I love each and every song. Again, I wish she'd make a new cd or something. I have all the ones she's done and this is the best of them. She's a great artist and this is a cd worth every penny. Love it. |

| Always and Giving You the Benefit, as well as Love Makes Things Happen were to me the hits that helped blow this album up. Pebbles showed true maturity in material and in love, and I was proud to cop this CD. |

A beautiful singer, with a beautiful voice Submitted on: 2007-02-18 |

| The first time I heard this album, I was eight years old. Every song is beautiful, especially Why do I Believe. I love that album. My other favorite tracks are Backyard, and Giving You the Benefit. I wish that she would have had a more successful career. |

| This is Pebbles 2nd album and by her accounts more proud of this one than the first? (I liked the first album) But Always is the 'essential' Pebbs album. If you own only one, I think this is one (outside of the Greatest Hits collection) you should buy. When it came out I was 14 and entrenched in "Pebble-tom". I wanted her Hair, Nails, Clothes and Jewerly. People said she tried to 'copy' Jody Wately, I disagree, they were just different, in fact, this time period was great for Pop/R/B. You had Paula, Janet, Jody, Pebbles, Vanessa, Lisa Lisa, and Sheila E? They were all different and gave you something special unlike the R/B scene now. There's the Jill Scott/E Badu type or Beyonce and the white and black girl's who are REALLY copying here style. Pebbles was herself special, that voice is very rare, rare meaning nobody else sounds like her and her singing is very pleasing to listen to. I can put on Always now and veg-out on it. No offense to the Patti Labelle's and Aretha's of the world, but I gotta be in the mood to listen to them. Pebbles singing is relaxing and fun! Why she felt she could not sing anymore is a mystery to us as fans. Can't she run a crackhead ministry and put on her cape and sing for us at the same time? Angelina Jolie does both, come Pebbles do they need your undivided attention?LOL I know the TLC-thing and divorce from Egore (LA Reid) were hurtful, but "Girlfriend" you can sing! and make some more paper! She could even give the crackheads and wackodoodles some of it if it makes her feel better about being Secular again. I miss her voice and style, just like Anita Baker and Sade, Pebbles is making us wait for her to make new music- in this case she said it has to be Gospel. That's fine, but get your behind back in that studio! Back to the album "Stay With Me" is my favorite Pebbs song ever! Not only does Babyface do a grear guitar solo, but the song's bassline is off the hook. (Kudos LA) I really didn't like Always the song for some reason until they kept playing it on the radio back in the day. It was constantly being requested, and probably should've been a single, that would've been great. Johnny Gill,(another great balladeer) sounds so great and soulful w/ her sugary-sweet sounding female voice. It rivals "Love Makes Things Happen" which at the time was my favorite song on the album. Babyface and Pebbles did a fabulous Tammi Terrell/Marvin Gaye impersonation. I saw them perform it on Arsenio Hall, but when she came to town in concert it was sold out. (Pebbles, Babyface, Keith Sweat, and some other no-name guy? but she was the headliner) If you can headline your own World Tour, you can come back if not only for your true fans Perri. We want you back in music, Whitney can wait... |
