Patti rocks Submitted on: 2008-12-05 |

| Over the years some people have complained that Miss Patti screams instead of sings. If that's true then I find her screams absolutely beautiful. No one can get higher or keep belting out the tunes for such an impressive length of time besides the one and only Patti LaBelle. "Flame" is an evenhanded CD that everyone with a set of ears will enjoy because it mixes the sweet and the sour, the sugar and the spice, the old and the new, the great and the greater to form such a work of art that is Miss Patti's modern day masterpiece. Every track almost falls in and out of each other, just like a live concert so it's difficult to list all of my favorites. Of course I am partial to the first track, "Someone Like You" as well as the title track. On both songs, Patti's ready, willing and able to go on and on and on. She never disappoints and always gives all of herself. I'm sure there're other singers who're there right now, but as Miss Patti might say: I was here before them and I'll probably be here after them. Because Patti is where it's at! |

Slow Love Songs Album Submitted on: 2007-12-30 |

| I can't knock Patti's performance on this CD, because she really sings fine here. But all the slow songs I find very indistinguishable from one another on here. The highlight is the funky jam WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT LOVE, without a doubt an absolute classic where Patti gets down. But don't expect anything like it on here, 'cause all the rest are slow adult contemporary songs. FLAME is nice, and a few others are too, but it's not very exciting. Overall, there is very much a sameness here, and not the variety of funk, R&B and love songs that Patti excels at on almost all her releases. I was very disappointed with her MCA releases after WINNER IN YOU, BE YOURSELF and BURNIN' - all top classic albums that have a really great mix of funky tracks, as well as ballads. Too bad that FLAME doesn't have a few more upbeat songs to pick up the pace. |

A must-have album for all Patti fans Submitted on: 2005-10-10 |

The title of this album 'Flame' is appropriate because every song on this album is smokin' hot! What I like about this album is that there is something for everyone on it. From the off-da-chain beats of 'Someone Like You'(you gotta listen to the intro on this song) and 'When You Talk About Love' to the quiet storm jams of 'I Like The Way It Feels' and 'Addicted to You' and the wrenching, emotional ballads of 'You Are My Solid Ground', the title track, 'Does He Love You' and 'Shoe Was on the Other Foot', Patti's 'Flame' album delivers on all levels. My personal favourites are her inspirational tracks 'You Saved My Life' and 'Don't Block the Blessings' - these songs empower me.
Eight years after its release, this album still sounds as strong as the day it came out. The collaborations with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are slammin! Patti samples everything from James Brown to Al Green. You can dance, laugh, cry, be romantic and feel inspired by all of the songs on this album. Only an artist with such talent and musicality like Patti LaBelle could deliver such an album. Enjoy it. |
