MDC-Millions Of Dead Cops/More Dead Cops ****1/2

Millions Of Dead Cops/More Dead Cops is one of the few truly essential hardcore punk albums from the early 1980's Reagan era American youth. Led by Homosexual lead vocalist David and drummer Alshvitz MDC was force to be scared of. As in your face as every other offensive punk band there ever was and maybe more so. Smart and Intelligent lyrics and serious subjects (but with actual knowledge of the subject unlike most artists) MDC was a truly great Hardcore band and Millions Of Dead Cops/More Dead Cops is their strongest testament to this.

'Dead Cops' is a classic anti-police brutality track, and 'Born To Die' is maybe the most important song of the entire movement. 'Corporate Deathburger' is laughable satire years before the cult movie, 'Super Size Me.' 'John Wayne Was A Nazi' is bold and there is no way around it.

For the hardcore movement and this sub-genre of punk it doesn't get much better than Millions Of Dead Cops/More Dead Cops, MDC nailed it with this one.

I loved this record in the 80s. The funny thing is that bush's usa is even more facsistier than reagan's ever was.
Funky Hardcore

This is a pretty good hardcore album. It hits extremely hard, it's political, it's funny, and it's intelligent. The only reason I think that people knocked it down, today and back in the day, is that it doesn't bring a whole not new to the table. That said, if you enjoy hardcore music comparable to the Bad Brains and Agnostic Front, this is where you want to go. Only, it has an extremely good bassist. As in, almost as good as Matt Freeman from Rancid (who played with these guys at one point.) So if you're looking for hardcore with funk overtones, get this. If not, don't.

MDC's first album was their best...Death Corporation, Damned Christians and so on not as good. But, this album is great regardless of Texas or what Mark Twain says...don't take it too serious...it is all tongue in cheek. California thing...what is that? It is all about California and the scene in Orange and LA Counties as well as the Bay area. Sorry Texas is not known for it's Punk Rock exports, save MDC, Big Boys and maybe The Dicks, but is known for having two kinds of music...country and western. Don't mess with Texas or Big Dave.

This is an overall good album, especially if your looking for a fast American Hardcore album on a boring Friday night. However, the last few songs on the album are not as great as the beggining 15 songs of the album. Towards the end when it gets to the More Dead Cops EP, the vocals change a lot, and its leaning on the punk/metal side, which good Hardcore bands unfortunately always find themselves at after theyre first release (D.I., Adolescents, etc.). But overall, a very good hardcore album. Not one of the bests, but still pretty good.
