Atypically ideal launcher into the genre Submitted on: 2009-11-19 |

| Corea's patented brand of jacked-up acoustic jazz is in full effect, with such a great band rarely stopping to contemplate how amazing some this chemistry is, in a near nonstop flurry of intellectual playfulness with emotional backbone. |

a masterpiece Submitted on: 2008-04-07 |

This is my favorite Chic Corea's Album.
It is amazing that after so many years of recording this reedition could be considered a real masterpiece in the jazz genre.
Chic is the the genious who established the link between the new and the old school.
Tribute to the people who inspired him.
I've been listening this recording for more than 20 years.
for me 5+ stars. |

One of my all-time favorite jazz albums Submitted on: 2007-02-22 |

Other reviewers have put it better than I could. This is a very unique album, with stunning compositions. I am a drummer and a big fan of Steve Gadd, and I have to say his solo on this album, and his intro to one of the quartets are my all-time favorite Gadd performances, both sensitive and technically daunting. The compositions by Chick Corea are very inspired, each of them lingers in your ear long after you've stopped listening.
It is a truly inspiring album. |

Timeless! Submitted on: 2007-01-05 |

Good albums come and go, but Chick Corea's Three Quartets is timeless! Compositions with immense depth and soul! From Chick's opening riff of the first track to the last seconds of the last song, three quartets takes you on an amazing journey. First of all, the line-up: Chick Corea, Eddie Gomez, Steve Gadd, Michael Brecker; can it get any bigger? Each of these jazz giants get there space to explode.
A must for jazz fans of all eras. Chick, your the man dude! |

rare musical treasure Submitted on: 2005-09-30 |

I cannot really express in words what this music means to me. This album is a very rare musical treasure, and has been like the voice of god for me 23 years or so, since I first purchased it on vinyl. There is no one in my personal life with whom I can share my love for this music; so I was happy recently seeing some well-written reviews from members of "my family" that I have never met. I always knew there were others out there who knew about the brilliance of "Three Quartets".
I agree with others (including Chick - see his note in booklet) that the extras don't really belong on this album. The majesty, pathos, bliss, and orgasmic shakti of the three main pieces put them in a class by themselves. They are serious and sacred compositions, and these recordings represent a historical convergence of talent and inspiration.
As a college student in the early 80's, I was so rocked by this comet that blew through my solar system, that I wrote Chick a letter of heartfelt thanks -- and HE WROTE ME BACK. I attached that letter to the cover my Three Quartets LP, and there it remains today. The man has great heart, and his musical imagination calls to us from a most remarkable realm. Some of us recognize the same in ourselves, and journey a short while with him. |
