premier forgot to use his 808's

everyone is jumping all over premier and jeru's nutz....i don't get it. the album was dope as far as content, the beats were original and catchy, very dark and grimey sounding, and jeru's lyrics were laced, even the collabos were well done. so why the 3 stars? i'll tell you why, rap music is supposed to knock!!!! i mean if the bass doesn't hit hard than i don't really wanna listen to it. IT MIGHT SOUND STUPID TO YOU DIE HARD HIP HOP FANS BUT , CMON MAN. i bought sub woofers for my car and a beast of an amp to push them, now when i listen to anything it pounds hella hard. even music that normally wouldn't pound like r+b stuff or rock music pounds hella loud. but this album was quiet and soft as far as bassllines go. if primo is such a great producer how can he leave out the bass drums. seriously how can i let all the hip hop culture know that hip hop with hard grinding basslines sounds much better. im not saying to change the beat or content of samples just make it more bassy. thats why people like me are forced to buy music from atlanta or texas, cuz i want the whole neighborhood to hear it. if east coast beats had this than they would pretty much monopolize the game. don't get me wrong there is artists out there that have the whole package, LIKE JEDI MIND TRICKS, OR MOBB DEEP, OR CUNNINGLYNGUISTS, OR THE BOOTCAMP CLICK(SEAN PRICE)...THERE IS A LOT OF TALENT OUT THERE THAT COULD BE SHINING IF THE BASS WOULD SIMPLY KICK HARDER. CMON PRIMO, AS A PRODUCER HE MUST HAVE A SOUND SYSTEM IN HIS RIDE, DID HE TRY TO TURN THESE TRACKS UP IN HIS OWN RIDE? HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED TOO

This is what Hip Hop is all about; meaningful lyrics and original beats. DJ Premier is one of the greatest producers/DJ's in the game and this album showcases his skills. Jeru is dropping science for all the knuckle heads. This is a welcomed break from the same old, same old sound rappers are putting out today. Old School for Life!!!!
Introduction to damage

This is Jeru's debut album and it does not disappoint. It's well known that DJ Premier was in charge of production for artists like Jeru, Group Home, M.O.P. and GangStarr. However, on this album, Jeru and Premier seemed to have created a different kind of concept that is not present on any either D&D album. Jeru was a hypo-political storyteller and Permier's beat were the artistic backdrops. "Come Clean" was and still is an amazing track. Although Jeru never attained the commercial fame that his ability commanded, his mark on hip-hop is indelible.

Yeah when you want true hip hop it just doesnt get better then this right here man... Jeru the damaja's "the sun rises in the east" is one of those albums that you dont skip any track cause all the songs are straight fire and the lirycs are even more deadly and the beats ? Amazing.Hip hop used to be my insperation back in these day. Go copy if you dont already have it ? U need to get beat down. Every true hip hop head should already own diz album.
Only Biggie and Nas's albums in 94 was better

What do you get when you put an MC with tight, thought provoking lyrics and a producer with hot beats? One of the best debut albums ever! Jeru and Primo was a nasty combo when they did The Sun Rises In The East. Jeru had the 3rd best album in 1994 behind Biggie and Nas and that was only because they dropped classics albums as well. Jeru had metaphors, punchlines, and phrases for you and Primo gave you some of the best beats ever. The beat for Come Clean is among the greatest beats eva. The best thing about the album is that it had one guest appearance and the worst thing about it was that it really didn't the airplay it deserved and it was greatly slept on by the masses. My favorite tracks are Come Clean, D Original, My Mind Spray, and Ain't The Devil Happy, but check out the entire album cause it's worth it.
