| I've seen Pink Martini play with the SF symphony twice and loved them! So decided finally to purchase my 1st Pink Martini CD. I love the music! Very soothing and relaxing. Enjoy with a glass of wine! |

| I have been listening to Pink Martini for a long time, and this is absolutely my favorite album of theirs. The fusion of all different musical styles from different cultures is stunning. This is their debut album, and it definitely gets you hooked. |

Misses the mark, not as inventive as "Hang on Little tomato" is Submitted on: 2009-03-07 |

I heard "Hang on Little Tomato" at a friends place and bought the rest of the CDs.
This first cd reminds me why I really don't like most French and Spanish films. Some people refer to the haunting quality, some of the lyrics are ...well..downright depressing. The goth crowd would probably love this particular cd.
Only a couple tracks seem worth actually listening to several times.
Save your money and skip this one if you bought the Second CD (Hang on Little Tomato) and loved it. Go right on to the "Hey Eugene" one.
they have definitely improved over the years |

Que Sera, Sera! Submitted on: 2009-02-26 |

Mainly I purchased this for the old Doris Day remake of Que Sera Sera. Pink Martini does it in a mad scientist format, minor key, really compelling. I play, just that song, at least once a day.
The rest of the cd is like a collection of lead songs from 1950's "B" movie soundtracks, if "B" movies from any era had soundtracks. I like them all and sometimes listen to the whole cd through, but I have to have my fix for Pink Martini's version of Que Sera, Sera.
I have this dream of writing a screenplay, probably for tv of a generational close encounter with a ghostly spirit at an elementary school and like Mr. Sandman by the Chordetts in the original first two Halloween's, Que Sera Sera by Pink Martini, would be my graber opening music for the thing. |
