| When some Mexican friends of mine gave me this CD I didn't know exactly what to expect, since Alejandra's previous album 'Enorme' was a bit of a disappointment. But on this disc she has changed her usual team of collaborators, this time mainly working with Spanish musicians and songwriters, and to say the least 'Cambio de Piel' blew my socks off! It's by far her most consistent effort - there is not one poor track to be found. Ace drummer Pedro Barceló's dynamic playing and the raw guitar and bass parts are a pure pleasure, and Ale herself sounds as if she's been reborn. The highlights (hard to choose!) are the uptempo 'Guerra Fría', 'Toda La Mitad', and 'Buscando Tu Amor' and the slower songs 'Ven' and 'Como Las Nueces'. This album didn't leave my CD player for days after my first listen. It's so uplifting and full of energy. Simply brilliant. |
