A great skate punk album Submitted on: 2008-08-18 |
|
| This really is a great album, but the few standout tracks don't excuse all the excrement that the Adolescents also turned out. Still, for any hardcore or punk fan, this is a must. |

Kids of the Black Hole Submitted on: 2008-06-18 |
|
| This album is one of the most crucial recordings in the punk rock genre. The Adolescents featuring guitar hero Rikk Agnew were the soundtrack behind the re-emerging skate scene in California. This CD is a must have for anyone with an interest in the OG roots of California Hardcore. I was fortunate enough to see this band in Reseda Ca and I was blown away. If you never experience this music you will never witness the full picture of punk rock. |

A Classic Submitted on: 2007-09-27 |
|
| This is one of the key albums of the era, up there with Damaged and Group Sex if you ask me. I don't think they ever topped this, although Balboa Fun Zone is cool too. Great songs, great energy, lots of passion. "Kids of the Black Hole" is like a punk rock epic! This comes with an EP tagged on the end called Welcome to Reality, which is also good. |

25 + Years Later and Still Rocks Submitted on: 2007-09-18 |

The Adolescents were one of the first punk bands from Orange County, Ca, but not predating "Middle Class" of the mid-late 70's. The Adolescents were excellent and contemporaries of other OC bands; Social Distortion, T.S.O.L., The Vandals, The Crowd, The Simpletones, Agent Orange, and later D.I. (left overs)Alfie Agnew and Casey Royer. The "Blue" album is the best...yes better than the "Balboa Funzone" thing. Their sound is fast, loud, and angry...Bitchin! Classic songs include;I hate children, wrecking crew, kids of the black hole, amoeba...never mind "too many to list". Buy the cd you won't be disappointed. At 37, married with 3, I still skate, and am still motivated by the raw aggression and emotion of this album.
Then go buy; T.S.O.L.(Dance with Me and Weathered Statues), Agent Orange(Living in Darkness and Bitchin Summer), Minor threat, Bad Religion(How Could Hell Be any Worse 2004 release), The Dead Kennedys(Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables and Plastic Surgery Disasters), Social Distortion(1945, Mommy's Little Monster, and Mainliner), and the Circle Jerks(Group Sex) For dessert purchase FEAR (The Record). Now go start you own band!

Great 80s punk! Submitted on: 2007-01-05 |
|
| the Adolescents are an incredible 80s punk band. Even though they didn't release too many albums, this one rules. This marks the beginning of mosh pits and chaos in punk rock. "Kids of the black hole" is great. Great riff too. "Amoeba" is enjoyable too. "No friends" is one of my personal favorites. "I HATE CHILDREN" is probably the best! |
