I'm disapointed that this is all music and not comedy Submitted on: 2006-06-19 |

I love Billy Connelly's stand up comedy routines and world tour programs and all, but i was a wee bit disapointed when I kept waiting for Billy to tell some jokes, but there is very little comedy in between every track on the album being a song.
Some of the songs are fun, but not hilarious. Most of them are Billy's pasion for music as he disaplys his musical talent. I'm sure the people who love folk music would love this album, and I can't really judge Billy's music or not 'cause i'm just not into that sorta thing.
But i felt i better warn any one who are like me and purchased it expecting comedy and not having more then a whiskers of it on this album.
It's a shame I cant rate it as "skip the vote" i dont want to say I hate it, it's just not my cup of tea. |

Transition Submitted on: 2000-09-14 |
|
| This early recording by Scottish comedian Billy Connolly (no actual recording date is given) shows him midway in transition from folk singer into comedian. All of the tracks are songs, and some of them (actually the majority) are straight-ahead folk songs, with not a hint of humour, but they stand up as perfectly valid songs on their own, with often more than a hint of sentimentality ("Song for the small man" and "A little of your time" come to mind). More often than not, though, these non-comedy songs are introduced by Connolly, who can't help but show the funny side of things. The other songs are more clearly comedy-songs ("Stainless steel wellies" "Glasgow Central" and "McBinty" are long-time favorites). Anybody who is familiar with Connolly's stage routines will love this album, even though the emphasis is rather on songs than on jokes. Connolly's wit seeps through anyhow, and makes for an enjoyable record of his early solo career. |

| Billy connolly is really funny, but to totally enjoy his stories you need to see his antics. ..someone is really missing the boat by not having him on vhs or dvd. |
