Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

A very underrated artist

"Beat" is simply one of the best electronic compositions of all times: edgy, highly evocative, full of expression. Carter's interest in Berlin School electronics permeates the whole album and his Roland System 100 is unforgettable. A very, very underrated artist, this album deserves a good DVD reedition containing complete 90 min. cassette original version. If you are a true fan of electronics stick to this UK temperamental pioneer, is a must. Congratulations to Mute Records for these Industrial Records reeditions. Let's crack a tinnie!
Throbbing Gristle LIGHT?!
Submitted on: 2002-04-19
One of the most wonderful things about Throbbing Gristle was that each of the four members brought something very unique and special to the overall sound. This CD pretty much presents Chris Carter's hand in it all. Of course, his seemingly well-publicised love for ABBA indeed shows in some of the tracks here, but this is not a bad thing at all. It somehow seems to fit into the Gristle-esque sound and foreshadow the electro-pop sound he crafed so well in Chris and Cosey. Songs like "Beat", "Slomo", and "Electrodub1" could very well be mistaken for TG backing tracks (not to mention that "Walkabout" is simply a longer, subtler version than the one found on the TG classic 20 JAZZ FUNK GREATS) -- however songs like Solidit and Interloop are very much pointing toward modern industrial. The CD runs an enormous 76 minutes, which is a shame since it is cut down from its original ninety. However, you will find yourself drifting in and out of listening.... "Is this still Space Between?....Yup....Awesome!" Too bad MUTE USA put this one quickly out of print...at least you can buy it as an import. BTW the front shot is --seemingly obviously-- of Cosey Fanni Tutti's "space between" but done extremely tastefully.....a great record!
