Tiffany's sophomore effort is mediocre Submitted on: 2008-02-27 |

| Tiffany Renee Darwich's sophomore effort is mediocre compared to her 1987 self-titled debut. ALL THIS TIME is the only Top 10 hit from this set, released in fall 1988. Darwich was still relentlessly receiving fanletters and appearing in teen-oriented publications such as 16,Bop and Teen Beat. However,in 1987 and '88,MCA was distributing many hit records recorded by Darwich's labelmates Bobby Brown,Elton John,The Jets,New Edition and others. |

Tiffany's Underrated Masterpiece - Glory Days of the '80s Submitted on: 2007-09-13 |

No one can deny the goofy charm and inherent beauty of Tiffany's second album. This was my constant companion back in the day, and listening to it now, I was impressed at how well it holds up, and most of all, what a soaring, crystal clear voice Tiffany had. Its difficult to believe the person singing the songs was about 16 at the time, but its true - this is one amazing winner of an album - not even ONE filler - and every track is unique.
My favorite of all is the title track "Hold an Old Friends' Hand" - heres the thing - to fully appreciate this song, you need to dim the lights, pour yourself a glass of wine, and just immerse yourself in the melody of this brilliant track. Its the highlight of the album by far, and if they had made this Track 1 instead of Track 3, I am sure the album would have sold more.
The album opener, Track 1, is the slow ballad "All This Time", which was a beautiful teen ballad, but totally the wrong song to showcase at the time. No wonder Tiffany's fan base slowly started crumbling around the same period. Its a great song, but doesn't exactly scream 'chart success'. Ironically, most of the upbeat songs are found at the end of the CD - a special favorite is "Drop That Bomb", which is instantly memorable, and the perfect track to blast while you're cruising on the highway (Aside : This is the PERFECT 'car' album). The closing ballad "Hearts Never Lie" is equally spectacular.
Heres the thing, just like her debut, this has some great melodies. But the contrast is that this one has more soul and more feeling. Tiffany sings her heart out, and the title track is ample evidence that hers' was a special gift. Sounding decades more mature than her 16 years, this was a voice that would go on to make other amazing albums ("The Color of Silence" from 2000), but this, her sophomore album remains one of the greatest pop achievements of the late 1980s.
Get this today, you will be pleasantly surprised, even if you're not a fan of the teen-pop genre. |

one of the best teen voices EVER Submitted on: 2007-06-02 |

| I simply love Tiffany's voice...very soulful and wise beyond her years. Too bad she's never been taken seriously as an artist. If you have any doubt at all about her talent, simply listen to the title track. Even after all these years, I still love to hear this girl sing.... |
