Definitive Gambale Submitted on: 2007-12-10 |

| If you're going to buy one Gambale recording, get this one. With Hamm & Smith on board, there are lots of odd meters and exotic sounding tonalities. The later GHS discs lack the spontaneous energy and edge of this one, as do most of Gambale's other contributions. Give this one about 15 seconds into the first cut (Bad intent) to see what I mean. Simply one of the greatest fusion discs of all time. |

| This trio of Gambale, Hamm and Smith really rock out with great groove in odd meter. Great fusion cd! |

You try it! Submitted on: 2005-11-28 |

Yeah, you try it!
What most don't catch about this CD is that it is fully Improvisation. The songs were just jammed out as if it were a live set with no songs ready to play.
Again, this is where Gambale breaks out of the pack. The songs on the CD are done very well and again, it's all Improvisation. Most players would never even try it because they don't know enough about Improvisation to even come close to pulling it off. Again, Frank's solo's are about the music and not about the show off factor....hey the three were just showing what they can do...with Improvisation that is.

For starters... I can sit in awe... Submitted on: 2005-10-28 |

| Great record. The three boys each shine brightly. Occasionaly I am not thrilled with the tone/sound/effects of/with the guitar...Otherwise close to perfect. The Ses (Stu and Steve) I think are illuminating slightly more so than Frank. I prefer the sound of this CD compared to Vital Information... VI is too much "old school" jazz; While these compositions Rock (even when in a jazz format). For those who enjoy the harder side of fusion, this should be in your collection. |

I recieved this CD for x-mas, and I'm amused. The playing is awesome (can you expect something else from this monsters?) and I really liked it. Stu Hamm's bass tone is unbelievable. Frank Gambale's solos are awesome Steve Smith's drumming is solid Anything more to add? GREAT JAZZ, GREAT MUSICIANS..........GREAT RECORD |
