Ventures - 'Walk - Don't Run' (Capitol) Submitted on: 2009-09-02 |

| I've heard about this must-have twenty-nine track compilation of the Ventures from a couple of long time patrons. Basically, your proto-type standard surf magic here to thoroughly take in. Believe me, those new / er surf bands that came onto the scene later has nothing on the Ventures. Tunes that I found myself playing repeatedly were "Ram-Bunk-Shush", "Driving Guitars (Ventures Twist)", the unmatchable instrumentals - "Underground Fire" and their best known gem "Hawaii Five-O" as well as the all too familiar sounding "Night Drive" and the (almost) unreal "Fugitive". Highly recommended. |

Liars! Submitted on: 2008-12-22 |

| When I bought this cd at Amazon, I didn't know that the Ventures weren't actually telling you not to run. That is just the name of a song they play. I physically stopped running for 3 months after I bought this cd because I didn't want to offend the Ventures. You'd be surprised of all the changes I had to make in my life just from not running! I had to accept being late to work all the time. I gained an extra 2lbs of fatty tissue. I started wearing adult diapers (I eat a lot of Exlax so running is often a neccessity. It was a practical joke that backfired. How was I supposed to know it would taste so good? Any way, another story), etc. Looking back, the misunderstanding was kind of funny. I learned a lot about myself. I still wear the diapers too. Its relaxing not having to run. |

The Soundtrack of the 1960's in the OC Submitted on: 2008-08-14 |

I don't know how well it translated to the rest of the country, but if you grew up like I did near the beaches of Southern California in the early 60's you probably owned (or like me had a sibling that owned) "The Ventures Knock Me Out!" Along with other great instrumentalist like the Surfaries, The Ventures made a valuable addition to the Surf Music of The Beach Boys, and Jan and Dean etc. that made up a lot of the soundtrack of my childhood.
So here's the deal...
This is really good background music for a road trip, or reliving some great memories.
Long live the "Endless Summer!"

Surfs up! Submitted on: 2008-06-02 |

| The CD is cool. Its worth the money and the songs sound great. The problem is that after about ten songs, it sounds like your hearing the same thing over and over again. Its one of the risks you take when you don't have lyrics in any of the songs. These guys are legends and it is amazing how they crafted all this great music. I recommend you hit the shuffle button in you car and mix this in with other CDs. |
