Ehh, January 23, 2012
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
I knew what I was buying when I bought it.... there's nothing wrong with the CD.... but it was supposed to be brand new... I don't know if it's a matter of shipping or what, but the jewel case was cracked. Ultimately, I suppose it doesn't matter, but it kinda sucks to get a "new" item that you paid for and find it cracked right out of the box. I was definitely disappointed.

Chevelle Still Strong, August 5, 2011
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
After a very good platinum album entitled Wonder What's Next, Chevelle continues their good streak with This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In. Kind of a long title, isn't it? This album is not as good as WWN, but it still carries the torch for Chevelle nonetheless. I like the singles, especially Clincher, and I also like Breach Birth, Get Some, and Still Running the best. Rating: 4.5 stars/5 stars

Still great rock, May 23, 2010
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
I have to say that I rarely write reviews and I like old school such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Beatles, etc...but, I am open to new music and have always loved an edge.... Chevelle has it ten fold. I like Tool, because they rock and are very talented, but it's very dark. Chevelle although dark at times, has melody along with the rock and I appreciate that. I love the fact that Chevelle can rock hard yet throw in great vocals with melody that take you where they want you to go. They happen to be one of the bands that I really love because of that talent. I actually think that although they aren't as hard core as Tool, they really do have an edge with a great sound and a great singer to boot.....I will be a fan as long as they continue to make the music that they make. Even if they change it up a bit.....I am really hoping that they keep their edge.

The best rock band this decade, August 5, 2009
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
The 60's had the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, The 70's had Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, The 80's had Metallica and Van Halen, The 90's had Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Who do the 00's have? Where have all the great rock bands gone? Most of the best rock bands today are the bands from yesterday that are still making records. Great rock music is an art that is sadly fading away. These days rock is either whiney emo-screamo boy rock bands like Fallout Boy, commercialized bubble gum pop rock for teenage girls like Nickleback, or hard rock/metal posers like Godsmack or Puddle of Mudd. But there is still one beacon of light, shining brightly amidst all the talentless junk they call rock today...and that is CHEVELLE! Chevelle absolutely rocks. They have it all, talented musicians, powerful lyrics, complexity, and an overall balance of everything that makes great rock. So few good (let alone great) HARD ROCK bands exist anymore...they are usually either tame, poppy, "glam" rock suited for the dance/r&b radio stations, or a weak attempt at heavy metal that sounds more like noise than music (heavy metal also has suffered in this decade, but that's for another review). Chevelle is what I would call Hard Rock, fitting nicely in between post-grunge alternative rock and heavy metal (with absolutely zero elements of pop-rock), which to me is not only a perfect balance, but a trait that few bands formed in the last decade or so have. This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) is my personal favorite album, but all of their albums are 5-star material. If you love rock music, the way it should be, and you have not heard Chevelle, you need to buy some of their works, you will be very happy you did.

Great Follow-Up to "Wonder What's Next?", February 20, 2009
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
Chevelle has made a marvelous follow up to "Wonder What's Next?" with this album I can only call vintage. While "WWN?" focused on heavy intros, nu metal edge and brooding angst, "TKOTCDUI" focuses on melody and variety. While the nu metal freaks (like myself) will be slightly let down by the new style, all seeking progress in the bands melodic sound will be very impressed. I, for one, am excited to see the band moving in a more cohesive direction overall (I still have yet to hear Vena Sera) and feel this is a very worthwhile album... While I got really into "WWN?" in all of it's charisma and edge, I am already becoming attached to this album based on it's maturity and better vocals. Which brings me to my next point. The screams are MUCH improved on this album. While the passionate vulnerability is still there, so is an awesome edge that pushes the howls from bellows to roars. A really cool addition! In summary, buy this album if you like what you've heard of Chevelle and want to hear more!

pretty good cd from chevelle, June 17, 2008
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
this is the only cd from chevelle that i own but its a good one. ive heard most of their other songs and never really cared for them but i decided to buy this one cause i liked the clincher and vitamin r, and the rest of the cd is pretty good aswell. despite having only 3 members this cd is quite heavy and the bass player is good. the only complaint is that alot of the songs sound the same but i guess if you like one song youll like all of them. solid hard rock cd.

Great Rock Album, January 18, 2008
This review is from: This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In (Audio CD)
In my honest humble opinion, I find Chevelle to be one of the best modern hard rock bands out there today. I'll admit at first I was a little skeptical about them, but when I first bought their second album "Wonder What's Next" (their best album IMO) about four years ago and listened to it, I was impressed with what I've heard, and they really grew on me. Then last year, I went out and bought their latest album "Vena Sera" (another great Chevelle album BTW). Both albums kept me occupied before I found their third release "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" a couple days after Christmas at a local video game store where they also sold used CDs and VHSs and DVDs as well. Now onto the album, Chevelle's "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" is a great solid follow up to their second album "Wonder What's Next", and it's also harder sounding than WWN too (aside from the two softer tracks "Panic Prone" and "Bend the Bracket"). Personally "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" is my favorite Chevelle album, and it has also become one of my favorite modern hard rock albums that I own lately. The musicianship on here is very strong, tight, and talented, and the lyrics are very meaningful too. There's no f you, f this, f that, I'm f'ed up garbage that you hear in Korn, Slipknot, Staind, Limp Bizkit, Insane Clown Posse, etc. Pete Loeffler is a very talented vocalist who sings his lyrics in a very convincing and meaningful matter, and his guitar riffs are also catchy, driving, and crunchingly hard hitting throughout. Joe Loeffler's rumbling bass lines are solid, hearable, and very chilling sounding, and Sam Loeffler's drumming is very good as well with some nice strong rocking beats throughout. My favorite songs on here include "The Clincher" which is a great rocking opener with some great driving riffs, rumbling bass lines and strong pounding drums, "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)", "Still Running", "Breach Birth" Tug-O-War", "Panic Prone" "Another Know It All". "Get Some" is a personal favorite of mine on here that garners up some momentum with heavier stop-start riffs and even some nice double bass chops around the 2:16 mark, and "Bend the Bracket" is a nice accoustic closer. Jeremy's song ratings: 1. The Clincher (3:43) - 5/5 2. Get Some (4:27) - 5/5 3. Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) (3:43) - 5/5 4. Still Running (3:43) - 5/5 5. Breach Birth (4:03) - 5/5 6. Panic Prone (3:50) - 5/5 7. Another Know It All (4:20) - 5/5 8. Tug-O-War (4:32) - 5/5 9. To Return (3:42) - 5/5 10. Emotional Drought (5:24) - 5/5 11. Bend The Bracket (5:05) - 5/5 As much as I enjoy my fair share of extreme heavy music, I also like to switch it up a bit with some alternative/hard rock every now and then (and I'm NOT talking about the crappy rock that's on MTV or even VH1 for that matter), and Chevelle are definately one of those modern hard rock bands that have impressed me in a big time way especially in an age where most of today's modern music scene is currently dominated by stupid lifeless bubblegum pop sellouts like Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Paris Hilton, Hillary Duff, Avril Lavigne, and crappy poser punk bands like Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Simple Plan. They all make me sick to my stomach. So anyways, if you're a fan of Chevelle, modern hard rock, alternative rock/metal, or just good music in general, then by all means you must own "This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In)". Well Enjoy!!
