Good 2nd Album Submitted on: 2007-06-01 |
|
This album is a strong 4 stars. I didn't give it 5 because it's not quite as awesome as words. It doesn't have the same amount of punch, shading more toward the sweet and cute. Like Words, this album is a lot about love. Notable songs:
Never Been Kissed - the first track, it's bouncy and kind of sassy, has nice drums.
All the Love a Heart Can Hold - uptempo with good lyrics, especially the chorus, which includes a phrase, "emotion overflowing in my soul." Good word picture.
Dreaming Out Loud - rather autobiographical, is about a girl/young woman with dreams of being a renowned performer. Sticks in the head.
Love in the Real World - also sticks in the head, is about a young couple who get married and hot romance becomes the everyday stuff of mortgage, children, bills, etc.
All That Matters - uptempo, energetic |

Don't Cage This "Bird" Submitted on: 2007-04-13 |

On Love In the Real World, Sherrie Austin is an enchanting vocalist who displays just the right amount of spunk. Particularly on the hit single "Never Been Kissed," the vocals are good, but the attitude sells it- that's the hallmark of this CD. Its cute and sassy, but not too sweet. "Little Bird," "Good Love Comin' On," "Dreaming Out Loud," and "All That Matters" are in the same vein: lively, spirited, romantic. Her voice really shines on the ballad "That's No Way...," and "Wish" typifies the album, ultimately about longing for love, tasteful, appealing to non-country fans. Sherrie is fresh like other young artists of this era, Lila McCan and Jessica Andrews. The lack of vocal histrionics is refreshing; she's not forced to emulate anyone.
I think this is good quality pop/country. Some have complained that it is too recycled, too polished, and Sherrie uses the phrase "very pop, perky and cutesey" on her website to describe her music in this era. You can definitely hear the potential for a mature, confident artist. Don't compare this with the raw-edged emotion of more traditional country/bluegrass women. This fits a different catagory, and it stands well on its own. Sherrie only needs to break free of industry confines. This is a well conceived record with a catchy appeal; it isn't as fiery or passionate as I'd like, but as I've stated, the potential is there. This beautiful Aussie singer-actress has signed to a new label, and its hard to see why she's not a bigger star. She has all the necessary qualities. |

The Greatest Female Country CD EVER Submitted on: 2004-10-31 |
|
I cannot overstate how good this CD is. Sherrie Austin is without question the greatest female country singer out there today (In fact, no one is close),and this is her best. Songs like "Dreaming Out Loud", "All The Matters", and "Little Bird", are country classics, and there is not ONE SONG on this CD that is LESS then 10/10. There are only two CD's that come close: Sherrie's "Words" and Deanna Carter's "Did I Shave My Legs For This?".
The dirty secret out there is this woman cannot get airtime on Great American Country, and little on CMT. It makes no sense to me, except for the fact that quality country music is not supported these days I am a Sherrie completist, who believes that for EXCEPT for George Strait (She is the equal of Tracy Lawrence), that this is today's finest singer. If you get this CD, you will fall in love with her, and have to get the entire collection. |

The Best Female Country Singer Today Submitted on: 2004-02-21 |
|
| This CD which is actually her THIRD (Yes there is a CD before "Words" titled "Colourhaus" which I do have and is extremely rare, and I will never sell (So please don't ask)), is her best. Songs such as "All That Matters", "Little Bird", "Dreaming Out Loud" (That song sounds very autobiographical), "Never Been Kissed", "Sarah", and "That's No Way To Break A Heart" (Ok, ok that song is on "Words" as well, but why quibble?) are all 10's on a scale of 1 to 10, and the rest are not far behind. Sad to say, I just lost this CD, but I just went out and ordered the Import version from Amazon so I can get the two extra tracks "Favorite Waste Of Time" and "Tell Me Everything". Sherrie is simply the best female country singer today hands down, and she NEVER gets enough airplay, either on the radio or CMT. It is sad when you think that to get REAL country music, you have to think AUSTRALIA (Sherrie is Australian) instead of NASHVILLE, but George Strait and Alan Jackson said it best in "Murder On Music Row" about the state of Nashville today (Listen and you will understand what is going on). If you like her at ALL, you need to get this CD, and ("Words" as well), they are in my top five CD's of the 90's (Along With Shania Twain's "The Woman In Me", Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now?" and George Strait's "Pure Country"). This is an incredible CD, well worth the money. PS: "Streets Of Heaven" is the best CD of the past two years (Worth The money as well). |

The Only Country Artist Worth Listening To Submitted on: 2004-02-15 |

This was Sherrie's best CD until the release of her latest,Streets Of Heaven. If you don't have this yet get it today don't delay. Every song is a winner. This CD should have made Sherrie a household name and been a million seller but once again radio dropped the ball and ignored the best artist out there.Gimme a break. Even though I could rave about every song let me just say Never Been Kissed is a winner as well as Little Bird. All That Matters may be Sherrie's best song as you will listen to it constantly! You can never go wrong with a Sherrie CD. |
