Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

One of the best 90's bands!

Title of Record is a great sophomore release by Filter, when I got it back in the late 1990's I was expecting the same gritty sound as 'Short Bus' which this album IS NOT!However, this album goes feature great guitar work, great lyrics, and fantastic use of beats and synthesizers giving them that 'electronic music' edge that they became famous for.Filter had a great approach as far as seperating themselves from other rock bands of the 90's era.

This is one of those rock albums in which i grew up with. Along with Third Eye Blind and Staind and many others, I enjoyed it as much as other listeners did. "Take a Picture" may be a bit overrated nowadays, but the lyrics and music are still catchy. "Captain Bligh," "Welcome to the Fold," and "It's Gonna Kill Me" are some of the heavier songs; they're just too good to avoid. I didn't enjoy "I Will Lead You" and "I'm Not the Only One" as much, but they're decent enough. The closer "Miss Blue" has the same soft and mellow tone that "Take a Picture" conveys, and I truly believe that this is the perfect conclusion to the album. In short this is a great, but not excellent, CD that's way too under-appreciated in this generation. I can't understand why, though.

Grade: A-
A very unique sound

Title of Record is Filters most popular record. It's almost hypnotic when listened to. It slightly edges out Short Bus (although I give both a 5-star rating) because of it's excellent production. Both albums have excellent lyrics.

This album is extremely innovative without being too raw.
With all due respect... Skinny

There are some good songs on this CD and some what I would call "fluff". Take a Picture is probably the weakest of songs on the CD and I know that will be an unpopular stance, but it is definitely not representative of the entire album. For me the song that stands out the most is Skinny. It has the soft intro and verses that lead into a rocking chorus. This song, and many of the others are equal too or better than Hey Man Nice Shot, which should be expected of a follow-up album if the band has talent. I enjoy this album immensely.
One of my top 10 records of all time

This record starts out with 5 of the best songs I've ever heard. The raw emotion and honesty of the singing combined with the masterful guitar riffs and grooves is a mix that never wears out for me. Richard was at the top of his game when he made this and he really had some moments of divine inspiration. To this day when Filter plays live, half of their set is draws from this record. If you are in a f-ed up relationship this is the album that you need to listen to.
