| I've only ever heard or seen Billy on TV or DVD's. What I can understand of this disc is funny, but you've got to LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY. It's a live performance and many times the laughter of the crowd drowns out his monologue. And you have to listen very carefully as his Scottish brogue is very strong in this version. |

This is an excellent piece of Billy Connolly's early work, its rich and darkly humorous set of stories.
He keeps the audience rolling in laughter and he has a great singing voice, which carries the tales along to make you feel your there in the heart of the story.
The only downside of this album is I would not recommend this for first-time listerners; hence the four star rating.
His accent is thick as molasses and sometime hard to understand. My wife and I listened to him and had to re-listen to certain parts to get the punchline, but this is a very good album to listen to learn the true meaning of Jock and Jocular Humor.
I purchased Connolly in NY(DVD); which is one of his more recent works is a better choice to introduce him to new listeners,so they can get used to his accent.
After which I went back and relistened to Classic Connolly and understood his material alot better. |
